Final Project: Design of an Electric Vehicle

Design of Electric vehicle.

To design a electric vehicle in matlab simulink Following blocks and prodecure need to be consider and folwlled.

Let us consider how the vehicle is.?

A vehilcle Body - the whole body , tyres , and some drive train or gear Box.

A DC motor to run the vehicle using battery as Power input.

But we directly cant the battery to DC motor, will need some controls to control it for the following Parameters.

Different drive cycle has been given as input. and input is given to the driver reference.

Step 1 design of Vehicle body

Vehicle body block Parameters YOU can put All the require value and the parameter in the block

Including Drag pitch Main and variables

Magic tire block

Its provide you with number of input like force .main,Rolling Resistance and Dynamics

BLOCK Used

Vehicle body (NR=force at rear,NF=force at front),V=velocity,H= Hub connection,W= wind,Delta=Hill angle.

Tire (magic formula) (N=force,S=slip,A=axel,)

Simple gear

constant block

PS-simulink converter.

Now design Power train and Battery.

H bridge block .(by double clicking the block doing it to external, you can observe that how the 4 switch arrange ment is done inside it and operate as per the Duty cycle given by us. V+,V- are the suppy to the switch )

BLOCKS USED

DC motor ,its a electrical and mechanical block

H bridge -its used to give pulse wise signal to the DC motor.

Controlled Pulse Voltage.

Current sensor

Controlled voltage source

Electrical Reference

Rotional Reference

Battery block a simple one

Different drive cycles, and Longituninal drive Block.

A simulink block connection for Converting the Velocity to KMPH.

Drive cycle of the FFTP used in this model

Full Model design ,Models contains Subsystem of powertrain and vehicle body block set.
