Fender Design - Wheel Arch Challenge
Wheel arch design study
Japan Standards:
According to the japan standards the distance between the wheel and the fender should be the minimum 5mm distance. in the above image, the distance between the wheel and the arch should be 5mm all around the arch at some sections it fails.
As per US regulation, the clearance between tyre and fender must be greater than 5mm. The projected points to be measured are at an angle 0° forward to 100° respectively. Thus each position is divided into 10°. Thus the projected distances are measured at around 21 different points.
European Regulation:
The European regulation requires a pre determined clearance or a minimum distance of 10mm. to be maintained between the Fender (Front Quarter Panel) and the respective tyre at particular points(5 points/Sections to be exact) along the tyre profile as shown below:

In this project we are going to study the wheel arch model by using European standards

CONCLUSION:
By seeing the output result we can say that the given aheel arch model is not suitable for car. Need to change the design of the wheel arch.
