Fender Design - Wheel Arch Challenge
AIM:
The main aim of the project is to study & calculate the appropiate clearnace between the wheel and fender. And Accrdingly Determine the Wheel Arch
OBJECTIVE:
The wheel arch is the semi-circuar portion of fender which is cover over the wheel.
The main objective while designing the wheel arch is to Protect the BIW as well as the pedestrains from water, mud, small rocks and other particles.
The wheel arch is usually used as shield or guard to protect it from dust and other small particles entering in to the automotive.
we have attached some images below for better clarification about the exact wheel arch area and how does particles approaches to get inside the vehicle.

PROCEDURE:
There are various different norms according to which we should design wheel arch area some of the standards are as follows :
1) European standard
2) American standard
3) Japanese standard
1) European standard :
According to European standard clearance length for the wheel arch will be 10mm. SA, SB, SC, SD, SE are the point on the wheel from where it is projected to the wheel arch to measure the distance.

3D Aspect
Now we will skecth acccordingly.
1) Actual Distance (Clearance Vaue) at point SB = 10

2) Actual Distance (Clearance Vaue) at point SA = 9.94

3) Actual Distance (Clearance Vaue) at point SC =0.11

4) Actual Distance (Clearance Vaue) at point SD =2.83

5) Actual Distance (Clearance Vaue) at point SE =5.97

DIFFERENTIATION TABLE :
| Sections | Required Clearance | Actual Clearance | Result |
| SB | 10 | 10 | PASS |
| SA | 10 | 9.94 | FAIL |
| SC | 10 | 0.11 | FAIL |
| SD | 10 | 2.83 | FAIL |
| SE | 10 | 5.97 | FAIL |
RESULT :
ACCORDING TO EUROPEAN STANDARDS AND NORMS WE ARE NOT ABLE TO ACHIEVE THE REQUIRED CLEARANCE.
