- Introduction
The wheel arch is a curved part of the fender positioned right above the wheel, it is designed such that it protects the pedestrains and the inner engine compartment from the chipping of rocks, mud, water, and other road sprays.
Different countries have different regulations of wheel arch regulations. The wheel arch design has to comply certain regulations as per the government where the vehicle has to be launched.
If the car is being launched throughout the globe then for avoiding alteration of design of fender for the same car maximum conserned distance which is given as the regulations of Wheel arch varies for each county.

The clearance L for tire cap and fender is to be measured within the area K create a cleareance and check the chart to validate.
The value of L should be greater than 5MM at all position
- European requirment
To measure the clearance between tire Hub and fender is L.
The value of L should be more than 10 MM if L is less than 10 the vehicle will not pass the European regulation
as the above diagram value of SA at Centre and SB SC should be more than 10 MM at the line 30° forward and 50° revert from the central axis of wheel there we have made another two points to be measured that is SD and SE results of more than 10 MM

- Conclusion
-As per the European regulation requirement the clearance at the given points should be a minimum of 10 MM and more than 10 MM cant be accepted, but at only one point there is 10 MM clearance and other point clearance value is less than 10 MM
-So the design will not pass the standards of European requirements
-The design of fender needs to be modified in order to meet the European requirements.
