Fender Design - Wheel Arch Challenge
Objective:
Calculate the Wheel Arch area and prove whether the car will pass the European and other standards or Not.
Wheel Arch:
A wheel arch, also known as a fender, is the curved section of a vehicle's body that surrounds a wheel. It is designed to protect the wheel from dirt, debris, and other road hazards while also enhancing the overall appearance of the vehicle. Wheel arches are typically made from metal or plastic and can be either integrated into the body of the vehicle or added as a separate component. They may also be flared or widened to accommodate larger wheels or tires, as is often seen in performance or off-road vehicles.

Requirement of Wheel Arch in Different Regions:
Japan Requirement:
The Clearance must be equal or greater than 5mm in all the 3 locations (B, A & C).
Measuring Clearance at Location B:

Measuring Clearance at Location A:

Measuring Clearance at Location C:

Result:

As per the result, the current fender is failed to meet the Japan Requirement.
European Requirement:
As per european requirement the distance between the fender and the wheel must be equal or greater than 10mm.
Measuring Clearance at Location SB:

Measuring Clearance at Location SA:

Measuring Clearance at Location SC:

Measuring Clearance at Location SD:

Measuring Clearance at Location SE:

Result:

US Requirement:
As per the US requirement, the distance between the fender and the wheel must be equal or above 5mm.
