Fender Design Challenge
DESIGN OF FENER
OBJECTIVE :-
To design a front fender by using the given claass A surface and creating mounting areas like bumper mounting, sill mounting, A pillar mounting by following the Design standards and also creating a drip area by taking the mastersection as a reference
Front fender :-
It is one the part of an automobile that frames a wheel well. It's purpose is to prevent sand, mud, rocks from being thrown on to the side door and hood surface which leads to damage for that surfaces.

There are two types of front feners :-
- Full bumper type
- Half bumper type

presently we are using Half bumper type because it reduces the blank cost and some weight which leads to decrease in mileage also
PROCEURE :-
- Initially analysed the given class A selecte the mounting areas

- Then create the bumper mountng area, sill monting area, A pillar mounting area by following the design standards

- After that create Drip area by taking the mastersection as a reference

- Then create embosses with holes on all mounting areas give corner at sharp edges
- Moidify the class A (if required by taking permision from styling team) and join all the surfaces

- Give thickness of 0.75mm to the final surface

FENDER MOUNTINGS :-
- Bumper mounting area
- Sill mounting area
- A-pillar mounting area

we create mounting areas at different places to connect with surrounded parts among all those mounting area drip area is most important area which place a crutial role in front fender
DRIP AREA :-
- It is a mounting area of a fender to engine components
- The design consieration for rip area is same for all the OEM's
Study of fender drip area :-

Before going to create a drip area we should follow some standards. In above figure SECT SA-SA, SECT SB-SB, SECT SC-SC shows the parameters of the fender
- SECT SA-SA is the gap between rear end and front end of a fender.
- It should be less then 300mm.The gap is provided because the cawl top part carries wiper motor and its instruments
- SECT SC-SC the front headlights will place for that housing we need atleast 150mm region
- The remaining SECT SB-SB is for our Drip area
The above figure shows the reason behind why we shoul follow the standard values
