Fender Design Challenge

FENDER:-

Fender is the US English term for the part of an automobile (Vehicle body) that frames a wheel well (the frame Underside).Its primary purpose is to prevent sand, mud, rocks, liquids, and other road spray from bieng thrown into the Air by the roatating tire. We say it will work as like the Antichipping Area.

We should mainly learn about these points are as follows:-

1. Design requirement fir fender and its components.
2. Functional requirement.
3. Important Regulations
4. Drip Area.
5. Wheel Arch.
6. Baffle and ORVM mount area.
7. Frontal Crash Regulations and Requiirement.
8. Gap and Flushness Requirements.

Mainly we should consider the fender in two types with these types and design.

As we know the Fender is designed in Sheet metal by Punching Operation so it has some cause and effects also for manufacturing the Fender it has been described here.

The Basic Design Considerations:-

The fastening material used for all mounting regions are same. Basically Fasteners technic is used to join the material in body is used in all cars in design considerations.

There are 5 basic mountingpoints or Area we are described here they are as follow:-

1.Body/ front Bumper Area.

2.A-Pillar

3.Baffle/Splash.

4.Sill

5.Drip Area.

Drip Area:

The Distance between the fender and the engine compartment is called as the Drip Area.It has lot of Constraints allowed, the gap between the rear end of the fender and the front end of the fender.

As Discussed and seen in the Master section in Challenge section. The Drip area must having distance of 200mm from the rear end of the Fender and 150 or above from the Front bumper area.

It can contain many turns, angles and lengths are discussed above in the master section. The Drip Area Minimum opening Angle is 3 degree which is usefully for production purpose.The minimum length between the Drip area must be 200 mm height which is usefull for the working considerations for passing the tool or any equipments during the production process.

Mainly the Stamping operation takes place is used for the production. In which they can maintain the distance of mainly 35-40 mm of wedge surface which is usefull in the clearance purpose. And it have the camber angle of 30 degrees which will create the spring back effect.

The distance between the Engine Room and the Drip area should be more than 10 mm. So Drip area is the very important area in the Fender Area.

Front Bumper:

It is comes near the Head light region on the front bumper

Baffle, Sill, A-pillar:

In the Baffle mainly we should use the push pins for attachments. As the other mountings it is also located as the supporting items will be fastening by the fasteners and internal attachments with a pillar or the engine compartment in the body.
