FENDER DESIGN

DESIGN OF CAR FENDER

Fender is the part of an automobile motor cycle or other vehicle body that frames a wheel well the fender underside . It's primary purpose is to prevent sand , mud rocks , liquids , and other road spray from being thrown into the air by the rotating tire . Fenders are typically rigid and can be damaged by contact with the road surface .

sticky materials , such as mud may adhere to the smooth outer tire surface while smooth loose objects , such as stones can become temporarily embedded in the tread grooves as the tire rolls over the ground. These materials can be ejected from the surface of the tire at high velocity as the tire imparts kinetic energy to the attached objects . For a vehicle moving forward, the top of the tire is rotating upward and forward, and can throw objects into the air at other vehicles or pedestrians in front of the vehicle .

TYPES Of FENDER

  1. Full bumper type
  2. half bumper type

Types of car fenders

There are two types of car fenders :

Full bumper type : this type of bumper is now not commonly used because of many reasons. First reason being the production of scrap while are these type of fenders are greater. The are blank sheet of aluminium or steel used to produce this fender has more wastages second this type of fender adds more weight to the car. Third that it is not economically good to manufacture .

HALF BUMPER TYPE FENDERS :

Nowadays this type of fenders are widely used this is because the issue of wastage materials is resolved with this design . Also the weight of the vehicle is also reduced by using this type of fenders.

Mounting

  1. Bumper
  2. Drip
  3. A pillar
  4. Sill
Master section of the drip area :

A - PILLAR MOUNTING AREA :

Smooth curve for easy manufacturing

CONCLUSION : thus, all mounting areas for the fender design are this from skin data and master section is done by following all design rules .
