Fender Design
FENDER DESIGN
FENDER is the part of Automobile (Vehicle Body) that frames a Wheel well (the fender underside). A car fender is a plastic, metal, or rubber panel that bends over the wheel on the side of the car, extending from the front bumper to the car.
- Its primary purpose is to prevent sand, mud, rocks, liquids and other road spray from being thrown into the air by the rotating tire.
- When vehicle is moving tries pick up stones and others hurt them in all directions.
- Fenders are basically present to prevent any injuries to pedestrians and contain the motion of these particles.
- A main function of car fenders is to protect tires and braking system from mud or other impurities so that they are safer and more efficient.

TYPES OF FENDERS => Basically we have two types of fenders :-
- FULL BUMPER TYPE
- HALF BUMPER TYPE
The full bumper type fender is used in ancient cars to cover up all the parts in front of the car but now a days we use half bumper type fender. In today's we use half bumper type because it take's less raw material and it comes in plastic, aluminium and carbon fiber. so, weight of the vehicle is reduce and efficiency, performance is increased.

FENDER MOUNTING REASON :-> There are 5 types of fender mounting are :-
- Bumper <------> A pillar <------> Sill <------> Cowl <------> Drip.
- In the Bumper Mounting we can fix the bumper to protect front side of the car and also install different types of light accessories in the bumper.
- In A pillar Mountings we can attach the A pillar with the roof of the car after that install all the A pillar related parts like: windshield & its accessories or front door etc.
- Sill mounting is used to link the fender with the sill. Sill is the under side portion of the door.
- Cowl mounting is the plastic where you have wiper mounting installed.
- Drip area is important part i.e.,contact with engine compartment. All though we can cover fasteners (means screw, nut & Bolts.)
DESIGN OF FENDER BY NX CAD :->
Design of Fender there are different types of mounting are present in Master section mentioned with the Design parameters like Bumper, pillar, sill, Cowl & Drip are designed by Engineering standards. Master Section are mentioned below :-
- BUMPER MOUNTING :-->
This mounting area is called the bumper mounting. Bumpers are usually made up of plastic, fiber or carbon fibre etc which cover the front of the car. Emboss with hole are provided in the fender so bumper is perfectly attached to the fender.

- A - PILLAR MOUNTING :-->
This mounting position is created for attaching the fender to A pillar of the vehicle. While the A pillar is installed all the upper parts will attached to the car.

- SILL MOUNTING :-->
Sill mounting is used to link the fender with the sill & Sill is the under side portion of the door. Also emboss and holes are given to attached fender to sill. That is called sill mounting.

- COWL MOUNTING :-->
Cowl mounting is the type of mounting i.e., inner side of the fender arch over the tire so it protects the car engine compartment and pedestrians, causing injuries from chip out debris on the road when the car is running on the road. This cover is made up of plastic to protect car.

- DRIP AREA :-->
Drip area is important part i.e., contact with engine compartment. All though we can cover fasteners (means screw, nut & Bolts). In the drip area we can provide a Dart because it can provide a stiffness and strength to the part so this can help the fender not to vibrate when the car is moving.

DESIGN AS PER MASTER SECTION BY USING NX CAD :-->

- CONCULSION :-->
In the fender design all mounting areas are present in correct position to install all types of parts in the car. This design is done as per given master section in consideration of design rules.
