Fender Design

FENDER DESIGN :-

In this,I have done a project on Fender and Here I am going to give my complete view on fender.

Fender:-

There is a two fender they are front fender and rear fender, the rear fender comes with the body part,the front fender is a separate component having lots of engineering features.

What is Fender?

• Fender is the Technical name of the side compartment of the engine. It acts as side profile or side closure to the Engine compartment.
• Fender acts as a closure and also helps in assemble of the Five major areas.
• The areas are Drip area, A-pillar mounting, Bumper mounting , Sill mounting and Baffle mounting.
• The Every assembling areas are takes place through the Fastners.
• Basically Fender has two types they are Half Bumper Type, Full Bumper Type.
• The Fenders are in both RH and LH side.

Why Fender?

Fender is playing a major role of protecting the Engine compartment area from the road side small stones when the tyre rotates. At the same time in fender there is a wheel arch area,this wheel arch also having some design condition .it may vary based on the regulations of the country.

The wheel edge and the wheel arch edge should have some area of distance that is 10mm,why because if there is no distance the pedestrian might get affected by the tiny stones on the road by rotation of the wheel. as well as the wheel arch protecting the cars body.

Engineering features and mountings :-

The Mindblowing engineering features are present in the fender, In that the most important one is the Drip area.

DRIP AREA:-

The Drip area is a one of the important well engineered mounting area.This area helps to mount on the engine compartment, these area having some design consideration,In my case the mastersection is provided to me for the design parameters.

The important things in Drip area,It should be placed a distance of 200mm from the one end( from the windshield ) and the another distance should be placed at a distance of 150 mm from the head light end this 150mm for housing of the front head lamp and its components and it should be minimum 10mm away from the engine compartment area

The stiffner should be maintained to avoid the bending motion of the fender and adding stiffness to it. Over Height of the drip area also add disadvantage to that so that maintaining maximum 40mm is better to avoid some springback effects.

The slanting angle 40deg in the mastersection depicting that mountings are takes place with the fastners,there is small gap with the fender and the hood.if the fasteners are visible through that gap it might gets bad from the aesthetic perspective so that the slanting area on the drip help to hide those fastners.

BUMPER MOUNTING AREA :

This Mounting area help to mount with the front bumper of a car.

A-PILLAR MOUNTING :-

A PILLAR Mounting is a Body Mounting

SILL AREA MOUNTING :-

This mounting Takes place with the fender and the base body of the car.

BAFFLES OR FENDER FLARES:-

The fender flares or Baffles are used to extend the wheel arch area to protect the car from the Derbis, Some off roading condition the flares helps from the Mud,dirt and water. So look on that considering some mountings for the attachment of baffles or flares.

FINAL MODEL :-
