Fender Design
FENDER :
In cars the portion over the wheel is the fender. In early days most of car used full bumper model it costs more materials and as well as more weight to the car. So inorder to reduce the cost of material and scrap management now a days we go with half bumper models in fender
There are front and rear fender on both sides of the car over the wheel it protects wheel from projecting outside.
Front Fender normally protects the engine components from both sides ,by preventing of entering small dust, stones and mud by throwing into the air from the tyres while driving. and also for pedestrain safety it has to go through ,WAD area should make 45degree with the outer most edge against ground.
FRONT FENDER DESIGN :
In the fender design there will be mounting regions they are as follows,
- Drip-mount area
- A-pillar mount area
- Sill mount area
- Baffle mount area
- Bumper mount area
Drip mount area:
In this mount we have to desgin by the master sketch from the styling team, from top to the mount area emboss should not exceed 60mm , or better to keep the depth within 40mm , it's for preventing the spring back effect from happening and also for the usage of tooling machine in the production assembly to work in the area. And there should be gap atleast 200mm from the hood in open condition to the fender.
Drip mount sholud have distance of 150mm from the front point for the assembly of head light and from the rear end it should have atmost 300mm for the cowel portion where we mount the wipers .
While the closed hood also have some gap with the fender .From the master sketch 8mm (8) inclined at 40 degree it also should maintain 7-8mm inorder to prevent the view of inner mountings from the outside.

Baffle (splash) mount area :
Its a plastic part so for mounting splash we don't use bolt and nuts , we use push pins to mount it to the fender
For every mountings the mount emboss sholud be in flat surface for making fasteners to the mounting areas. And for all the mounting area the thickness 0.75mm is given inwards to the section.
