Fender Design
FENDER DESIGN
Objective
- Here data given like this " design a front fender from the given skin data or class A and the master section provided with Drip mounting, A-pillar area , Sill area , Bumper and Baffle (splash) Mounts.
- Prepare a report with all the relevant images included for the mounting points created
What is a Fender ?
Fender is the one of the part of vehicle or automotive and it is frames a wheel and make it good apeearence to the vehicle. It is the one of the side closing part of the engine compartment and majore purpose is to avoide the chipping inside the engine compartment.
Its primary purpose is to prevent sand, mud, rocks, liquids, and other road spray from being thrown into the air by the rotating tire. Fenders are typically rigid and can be damaged by contact with the road surface. When the vihicle is running on the road the all sticky materials such as mud, stones and other particles are stick in the wheel tires and they are all through out from the wheel into the air at other vehicles or pedestrians in front of the vehicle.
So in this case the fender is avoide these things and its also avoide the damges from the wheel to pedestrains when accident will happen.

Types of Fenders in Vehicles:
- Full bumper type Fender

- Half bumper type Fender

MOUNTING area's in a Fender :
- A-Piller mouniting area
- Drip area
- Bumper mounting area
- Baffle Mounting area
- Sill area
- Drip Area : It is the critical mounting area located inside the engine compartment. Designed according to the master section provided and optimal opening angle is maintained to make it look well assembled from outside.
- A-pillar area : It is located at the top area of the fender or it will located in front door side and its used to be mounted with the top hoop area.
- Bumper mounting area: In half bumper fenders the bumper is connected with the bumper mounting area of the fender.it is located if front of the vehicle and it is give support to the Head light.
- Sill Area: It is located at the bottom area of the fender. and its is give the support to mud pad
- Baffle mounting: Ist is located at the wheel arch of the fender.
Here we have the Input for prepare the design of the fender
- Master Section: Iis show the connections between the mating parts.

- Fender skin: This is given Class a or skin of fender.

DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING PROCESS :
- DRIP AREA

In drip area mounting , many design points or aspects should be followed.
The first step is to trim the sheet according to the distance which is given in master section . The distance from the bumper side is 150mm and the distance from the A-pillar area is 200mm.After creating a sheet ,from the master section we have to design the drip area as per given master section and it should have atleast 10mm or more distance clearance from the engine compartment.Darts or beads should be provided as to make the drip area much more compact to the fender.
Proper blends and fillets should be given which will be do in practically.
- A-pillar Design

For the A-pillar area of the Fender design, A-pillar area is located at the top part of the fender. We have to make an approximate or required flat surface for placing the mounting holes.
Ribs or darts should be designed as to make the A-pillar section more attached to the surfaces it is placed. its fitted by screws.
- Sill area design:

The sill area is used to connect the floor of the body of the vehicle to the fender. It is designed in such a way it make the fender in compact with the vehicle.
the mounting holes are to be placed in such a way it is according to the dimensions.
Proper belnds should be provided.
- Bumper Area Design:

In Bumper area design, it connects both the bumper and fender of the vehicle.
Here we provede the ribs for avoid the vibration while vehical is in motion.
Mounting areas must be designed accoding to the measurement or master section.
And in bumper area it will be fix by help of bolt and nut , so here its need flat surface for place the bolt head so here we created the emboss and made sure minimum 5mm spacdde for bolt head.
We use the bolt and nut for give the strong stable for the fender other wise it will be vibrate and make noise also.
- Baffle Mounting Area Design

It is located at the wheel arch area that is the inside area of the fender. It is used to protect the vehicle from dust particles. It is also used to protect the pederstians from causing from the chips out of the car when in motion. It is fixed using fasteners and clips or screws or push pins.
Final Output:

CONCLUSION
Finally the Front fender of the vihicle is complete as per the given knowledge and the given master section.
