Fender Design
FENDER DESIGN
OBJECTIVE
The main objective of this project is to design a fender using a new-age design software-NX-CAD
INTRODUCTION:-
A fender, also known as a wing or mudguard, is an important component of an automobile. It is a part of the body of the vehicle that covers the wheel and helps to protect the vehicle and its occupants from dirt, debris, and water that may be thrown up by the rotating wheel. Fenders also play a role in aerodynamics, helping to reduce drag and improve the vehicle's fuel efficiency. In addition to their functional role, fenders can also be a defining feature of a vehicle's design, contributing to its overall aesthetic appeal. As such, designing fenders that are both functional and visually appealing is an important consideration for automobile manufacturers.
TYPE OF FENER
There are two types of fender , They are
1 full bumper type
2 half bumper type
full bumper type:
A full bumper type, also known as a full-width bumper, is a type of automotive bumper that extends the full width of the vehicle's front or rear end. Full bumpers offer more comprehensive protection for the vehicle and its occupants in the event of a collision, as they can absorb more impact force than partial bumpers.
Full bumpers are often made from materials such as steel, aluminum, or plastic, and may be coated or painted to match the vehicle's body color. They may also include additional features such as fog lights or sensors for driver assistance systems. However, full bumpers can also add weight to the vehicle and affect its aerodynamics, which can have an impact on fuel efficiency.

2 half bumper type:
A half bumper type, also known as a partial bumper or a bumper cover, is a type of automotive bumper that only covers a portion of the vehicle's front or rear end. Half bumpers are often used in modern car designs to improve aerodynamics and reduce weight, which can help improve fuel efficiency.
Unlike full bumpers, half bumpers may not offer as much protection in the event of a collision, as they are designed primarily for cosmetic purposes. However, they can still provide some protection against minor impacts and scratches. Half bumpers are often made from lightweight materials such as plastic or fiberglass, and may be painted to match the vehicle's body color. They may also include cutouts for fog lights or other accessories.

There are five mounting region on a fender
they are
- A-PILLAR MOUNTING
- BODY MOUNTING
- SILL MOUNTING
- BUMPER MOUNTING
- DRIP AREA MOUNTING
master section :-

DESIGN OF DRIP AREA MOUNTING :
- It is the important uni of the fender. It is connected with the engine compartment , therefore the lot of design constraints are to be followed while designing the fender.
- While designing the drip we have to initially leave 200-300 mm for cowl top
- For placing the headlamp we have to leave at least 150 mm at the front while designing the fender

DESIGN OF SILL MOUNTING AREA :
Sill is the panel directly below the bottom of the door supporting the floor and may be used to combine the floor and the body . the bottom end of the fender is mounting on the sill body for reinforcement of the fender panel ,thus the sill mounting position is designed with holes and emboss , M5 fasteners are used to fix the fenders on the sill body

DESIGN OF BUMPER MOUNTING AREA:

DESIGN OF A-PILLER MOUNTING AREA :-

DESIGNOF BAFFLE MOUNTING AREA :

APPLYING OF THICKNESS TO THE SURFACE:
The thickness of 0.75mm inward on the final sewed surface of the fender to the sheet metal parameters
DIFFERENT VIEWS OF FENDER :

CONCLUSION :
Finally design of fender is done with the help of NX-CAD software by following the master section .
