Fender Design
FENDER DESIGN
- Fender is the car body part that frames the wheel.
- Its purpose is to prevent sand, dirt, rocks and other road spray from being thrown into air by the rotating tire and close the engine component.

TYPES OF FENDER
Full fender
- It is a traditional type fender where there is more material consumption is observed.
- This type is used in old design of automobiles where it increases the overall weight and thus reduces performances.
- The maintenance also relatively more due to more surfaces.

Half fender
- Half fender type is modern design where less material consumption is observed.
- So productivity increases by reducing size of blank and thus providing more performance.
- The maintanence also relatively low compared to full bumber type.

DESIGN PARAMETERS
Mounting points are
- Drip Area
- Bumper Mounting
- Sill mounting
- A-Pillar Mounting
- Baffle mountimg
Drip Area
Below figure is used to as a master section to create drip area and rest of the mounting points are creates as per the design requirements.

It is the critical mounting area located inside the engine component. Designed according to the master section provided and optimal opening angle is maintained to make it look well assembled from outside. Minimum clearance from head lamp and cowl part is maintained.Drip area is mounted to engine compartment by weld nuts.

Bumper Mounting
It is used for attaching the fender to the bumper.

Sill mounting
It is used for attaching the fender to sill,it is placed on the bottom side od the fender.

A-Pillar Mounting
It is used for attaching the fender to the A pillar of the car.

Baffle mounting
It is used for attaching the baffle the the fender. At the wheel arc baffle is added to absorb noise from engine compartment.
