Fender Design
DESIGN OF FENDER
Fender is the part of a car, truck or other vehicles that frames or covers a wheel well. Its main purpose is to prevent debris, rocks, mud, liquids, sand and other road debris from getting thrown in the air while the tires rotates. The fender typically refers to the front panel that covers the front wheels, and the quater panel typically refers to the rear panel that covers the wheel that also includes the roof piller. The fender is an auto body part, usually made of the same material as the rest of the cars body.Fenders types are full bumper type and half bumper type.

FULL BUMPER TYPE
The full bumper type fender was used in old cars. Its covers the full area until the front lighting. But it has a lot of sheet metal material which is unnecessary and increases the weight of the fender. This type of fender are no longer used in automobiles.

HALF BUMPER TYPE
Mainly half bumper is used in modern automobiles. It is basically related to scrap management.Half bumper type leats to less wastage of the blank. In the full bumper we can only produce one fender per blank, where as a half bumper type we can produce two fenders per blank.

DIFFERENT MOUNTINGS IN THE FENDER
The mounting points are attach the fender into the car body and fender attachment like, wheel arch & fender accessories. The mounting points are,
- A-Piller,
- Bumper,
- Sill,
- Drip area,
- Splash cover.
The given datas for fender mounting points are used in car front fender design in NX CAD.

MANUFACTURING PROCESS OF FENDER
Depending on the make of the car, fenders may be made from fiberglass, steel,or other materials. Many of these materials are designed to crumple in a crash, distributing the impact across the frame of the car to make the crash more survivable for the occupants of the vehicle. The stamping and deep drawing methods are followed in the Fender panel manufacturing process.
