Fender Design
AIM:
- Create the Drip Area using given Master section of front fender
- For the Sill, Bumper, Baffle (Splash), and A-Pillar mount create own design according to the Engineering standard that I learned.
OBJECTIVE:
- Create the Drip Area using given Master section
- To create design for sill, Bumper, Baffle (Splash), and A-Pillar Mount according to engineering standards
INTRODUCTION:
Fender is an aesthetic part of a car that frames the wheels. Prevention of sand, mud particles, and other road contaminants from being thrown into the engine compartment and also to the pedestrians by the rotating tires are the main purpose served by the fenders.
TYPE OF FENER
- Full bumper type
- Half bumper type

Presently we are using the half bumper type , the reason for choosing the half bumper type is that when we choose the full bumper type the blank used for creating it is very large and also has the lot of wastage , but in the case of the half bumper type we have the possibility to reduce the scrap . This is what we called as scrap management
In half bumper type we reduce the usage of the steel material and uses the lots of plastic on the bumper which in term decreases the cars weight and improve the performance.
MOUNTING REGIONS ON FENDER:
- A-PILLAR MOUNTING
- Baffle Mounting
- SILL MOUNTING
- BUMPER MOUNTING
- DRIP AREA MOUNTING
A-PILLAR MOUNTING
This mounting position is created for attaching the fender to A Pillar of the vehicle.
The mounting has to be created by taking the reference from the A-pillar of the vehicle.
Enough clearance should be given for the easy mounting of the wiper equipment.

Baffle Mounting
These mounting points are created for attaching plastic components i.e., baffle which prevents chipping inside the engine compartment.

SILL MOUNTING
Sill mounting is created on the bottom portion of the fender for attaching to the sill.

BUMPER MOUNTING
This mounting point is created for attaching the bumper to the fender. It should have enough strength to hold the bumper steadily.

DRIP AREA MOUNTING

MASTER SECTION OF DRIP AREA

The drip area is the most important mounting in a fender, it is the point where the fender has to be attached to the engine compartment. The drip area should be designed in such a way that it should be at least 150 mm away from the front end of the fender to have sufficient space for mounting headlamps housing. Mostly the drip area starts from 200 mm away from the rear end of the fender, to have sufficient space for the cowl which carries the wiper equipment. The length of the drip area depends on the length of the fender.
ERROR FACE:
While thickening command not executed properly due to improper continuity in curve. So, I trim the curve where there is improper continuity and then create a smooth cure by sweep command.
ERROR SOLVE

REASON FOR ERROR

DIFFERENT VIEWS OF FENDER

CONCLUSION:
- Thus, Front fender of car is designed with a proper mounting structure by considering all the design parameters.
- Error was solved by MAKING THE SMOOTH CURVES.
