Door Arm Rest Week 8 Challenge

Door Arm Rest

Objective:

  • Draft analysis for given Class A Surface.
  • Create B and C Surface with the help of A Surface.
  • Need to use close surface feature and have to make solid body.
  • Draft analysis for the solid body.

Design Consideration:

  • Class-A Surface should be aesthetically Smooth
  • Class-B Surface should have all the supporting features likes ribs.
  • Flashing should not affect aesthetic of class A surface.
  • Draft analysis minimum consideration three Degree.

Process of Draft analysis-Class A surface:

Tooling Directions:

I have tried with Bisecting Method it’s not working and sketch also not working.

Finally, I have extract Base from Class A surface and taken on point on the middle created one line based on Point and surface. Then I have done draft analysis Then also not coming properly. I have set up axis system. Refer Photo Below.

But Still front some of the portion not getting clear with this tooling axis. Because of that we have to create one more tooling axis which one will be available on the side.

So this surface we can’t clear with one core direction we have to used two core ,first one will clear upper surface and side one will clear side surface.

Analysis Report:

As per Draft analysis A surface ok for the manufacturing, now based on A surface we can created B surface and C surface.

Class B Surface Creation:

Step:

Extracted class A surface used untrim comment and extrapolate as per requirement.

Same way I have side done side portion of the A surface refer below image

Both the joint together  and with Trim comment and Given Fillet value .Offset done -2.5mm downward.

Same Way I have done left arm tree also. First extract and untrim. Then as per requirement trim done. Offset comment Given as well as Fillet Value Given as per requirement.

Created one point on the A surface curved, based on that sketch also completed. With the help Sweep Comment created one surface. Same one more surface extract, Bled comment used to joint these two surfaces, Joint all the three surfaces with the used of joint comment.

Same way I have extract A surface as per requirement and untrim done.

Extrapolate done all the surface for desired output. Offset also given to all the surface.

Final B surface:

Class C surface creation:

  • Take outer boundary of the class A surface.
  • Use multiple extract comment
  • Use Smooth Curve comment to reduce patches
  • Use Sweep Comment to create C surface
  • Use Extrapolate comment and all the surface increase 10mm and joint team together with Joint comment .

Final Joint:

  • Extract Class A surface
  • Joint Together Class A and Class C surface
  • After joining A and C surface take B surface trim with same
  • Final thicken surface came.

Body Creation:

  • Change workbench Generative Shape Design to Part design
  • Created Body
  • Use surface Base Feature and Solid Body

Draft Analysis Solid Body:

  • First the class -A surface is checked there is no Gap.
  • By changing the view mode to custom view parameter – Material mode then the features draft analysis is enabled.
  • Then the compass was activated and placed with tooling axis by dragging the red pointer and then locked it.
  • Then by selecting the quick analysis mode the nominal value will be 3 degree and checked for the component’s draft angle
  • The green colour area shows that it satisfies the 3-degree draft angle. If not satisfied then by using the Running point tool the area is measured and then altered to get a successful draft for the created tooling direction.

Some of the place not getting clear with this Z tooling axis, for that side core going to be use for manufacturing. Here we are using X Tooling Axis.
