Design of backdoor
CAR BACK DOOR DESIGN
Aim: To design the back door of the car using the given outer class 'A' surface.
INTRODUCTION:
The Back door is typically hinged but sometimes attached by other mechanisms such as tracks, in front of an opening which is used for entering and exiting a vehicle. The trunk (North American English) or boot (British English) of a car is the vehicle's main storage or cargo compartment, often a hatch at the rear of the vehicle. It is also called a tailgate. These doors can be operated manually or electric powered. In most luxury cars door is electrically operated. Ii involves a very major role during rear crash cases. so our design must obey crash requirements.

Types of Back Door :
- Top Mounted
- Side Mounted
- Bottom Mounted

Back Door Assembly:
- Inner panel
- outer panel
- Hinge and its reinforcement
- Wiper motor reinforcement
- Latch & stricker and its reinforcement
- Gas stay reinforcement
Components to be designed:
1) Outer panel
It is the outer styling skin surface of the back door. It is provided with multistage coatings which have the property of scratch resistance, rust prevention, etc. It is wrapped around the inner panel through the hemming process.

Inner Panel
The inner panel is one of the most important components of the backdoor assembly. It provides strength and helps in the dissipation of forces outside the part with the help of embosses made on it.

Draft Analysis:

CONCLUSION
The back door's outer and inner panels were designed with the help of the styling surface along the tooling direction.
