Design of backdoor

                  CAR BACK DOOR DESIGN USING CATIA V5:

  AIM : To develope automotive back door design using CATIA V5 tool.

          INTRODUCTION:

                          Back door/tail gate is one of the closer commodities in BIW sheet metal design.The back door has a lot of components                                  inside and is designed to incorprate them easily. it affects the rear visiblity and luggage area. 

                                           

          The back door consist of the following basic components.

           1 - Back door inner panel.

           2 - Back door outer panel upper.

            3 - Back door outer panel lower.

            4 - Hinge reinforcements.

            5 - Gas-stay reinforcements.

            6 - Latch and striker reinforcement.

    OBJECTIVE: 

           *  To design the tailgate inner panel,outer panel (upper and lower).

           *  perform draft analysis on the inner panel.

           *  design all the necessary reinforcments.

  SOFTWARE USED : CATIA V5

      DESIGN PROCEDURE:

            *  Styling surface cleaan up: it is necessary to check the given styling surface before using it to create the cad model. this is done to check the continuity in the skin surface as sometimes the distance between the surface is more then 0.0001mm.

          

  DESIGN COSIDERATION :

        *  Rear visibility

        *  Latch and striker reinforcement

        *  Hinge and Gas stay reinforcements
