Creating various 3D Models like Furniture, Footing, Girder, Column drop with panel and Gable Wall in AutoCad
AIM:
(a). Create a 3D Furniture element as shown in the Figure. Assume dimensions which are missing.
(b). Create the 3d Model of an Isolated footing as shown in Figure.
(c). Create the 3D view of the AASTHO Type Girder.
(d). Create a 3d Model of a drop column with panel as shown in section and isometric view.
(e). Create the 3d model of a wall as shown in Figure. Consider wall thickness as 9”.
INTRODUCTION:
1. Firstly, define the units with requisite precision of the drawing.
2. Define the UCSICON command to set the axis for drawing or dimensioning along the specified axis.
3. In most of the below drawings, cross-section are drawn in the X-Y plane and then extruded along the another axis.
4. Regions are created over the 2-dimensional section using the "REG/BO" command and then followed by "EXT" extrusion command along the specified height.
5. In rest of the above mentioned point, surfaces are created using "3f" command by selecting the coordinates in the chronological order followed by enter option at last to make an exit from this command.
6. Set the "ANNOTATE" properties before proceeding for texting & labelling. Here i have assigned the following set of properties :
Dimension line: Red color
Extension lines from the dimensioning line: Magneta, 4.5'
Offset from the object: 1"
Lines & symbols: closed filled triangle on both sides
Text height: 3"
Primary units: ARCHITECTURAL, precision: 0'0"
PROCEDURE:
FIGURE(c-1,12):
1. Firstly, Cross-section is drawn using the line command in the X-Y plane with dimension labelled in the sketch.
2. Create the region using REG/BO command keeping the enclosed section with no open sides.
3. Region is extruded along the perpendicular direction of the cross-section as per the options such as Path, direction etc given in the extruded command.
4. Set the view cube at the back side of the box and create the region by drawing the rectangle joining the outer vertices of the box.
5. Extrude this back side region with a thickness of 2".
6. Labelling & texting is done by specifying the UCSICON button along the desired direction of bugging.
here i have attached this sketch(figure c-1,12) in the PDF form in the browser window.
FIGURE(c-2,12):
1. Create a rectangle of dimension 5'*5' in the X-Y plane using top View of the viewcube.
2. Copy that rectangle & by defining any of the base point, locate the another rectangle with coordinates (@0,0,6").
3. Create a rectangle same as in first point but of dimensions 1'*1'.
4. Move this 1'*1' rectangle in the z axis using coordinates (@0,0,2'6").
5. Use "3F" command to create the surfaces by joining the vertices of the surface in the chronological order.
6. Use DIMLINEAR command to label the sketch.
here i have attached figure(c-2,12) in the PDF form in A4 sheet using the layout option with plot option "DWG TO PDF.pc3 option.
Here we can also use "EXT' command with tapering angle of 45degree preceded by using the BOX option in the solids tab with dimensions of (5'*5'*6").
FIGURE(c-3,12):
1. Firstly draw the cross-section using the line & TRA command with dimensions given in the sketch.
2. TRA command is used two times, firstly at the top web-flange connection with dimensions of (3"*6") and secondly at the bottom web flange connection with dimension of (6"*6"), nested within the LINE command.
3. Use "MI" command by joining the midpoints of the flanges.
4. Use BO command to create the region, followed by "EXT" extrusion command to extrude along the speci-fied height (10’) in the perpendicular direction of section.
FIGURE(c-4a,12 & c-4b,12):
1. Draw the rectangle of 1'6"*1'6" in the top view in the X-Y plane, followed by creating the region using "REG" command.
2. Extrude this regional rectangle with tapering angle of -45degree with an extrusion height of 1' in the posi-tive z direction.
3. Draw the rectangle of 4'6" over the top extruded surface, followed by extrusion at the specified height of 6" in the positive z direction.
4. Setting the View cube at the bottom view, Extrude the rectangle of (1'6"*1'6") with a height of 10' in the -Z axis.
5. Use DIMLINEAR command to label.
FIGURE(c-5,12):
1. Firstly draw the cross-section in the X-Y plane by setting the TOP view in the view cube.
2. Cross-section is drawn using the line and TRA command.
3. TRA command is used at the left top corner of the section with dimension of (2.5'*5') nested with line command.
4. Use mirror command by defining the axis of mirror line joining the midpoints.
5. Use BO command to create the region keeping in mind the section should be closed.
6. EXTRUDE the region in the -Z axis at the 9" height.
7. Use DIMLINEAR command to label.
RESULT:
All sketches (6 in no.) are drawn in the PDF form in the A4 sheet by selecting the DWG TO PDF.pc3 option in the plot option assembled in the popup window come by selecting right-mouse button over the layout space in the taskbar.
