Challenge

Creating Conceptual mass in REVIT and Creation of Sinusoidal curve and a Parametric stadium using Dynamo

1.

Aim: To create a set of sinusoidal points, a curve and a surface out of the curve using dynamo.

Procedure:

I am using the verion 2022 some changes are there compare to 2018 software

1. First open the architecture template of Revit software and go to manage tab and select the dynamo.

2. Then Dynamo window opens and then go to new option.

3. Now, start the process by inserting three integer slider.

4. In search type code block in the library search panel.

5. The code block is opened and for 1st code block value is 5 for 2nd 300 and for 3rd 1.

6. Next type range in the search panel of the library and insert it and connect these three code block as input to the range block.

7. In search points by coordinates in the search panel.

8. Next connect the range block to the x coordinate of the point by coordinate block.

9.To produce sin wave out of these points for which we have to insert sin function which is given by math.sin option in the library.

10.Next insert another integer slider and name it as amplifier and it needs to be multiplied to the sin block.

11. For this, search product function in the library.

12. Input for x value is sin block and for y value is amplifier.

13. Now, this is then connected to the y coordinate of the points by coordinates block.

14. The set of sinusoidal points are obtained and curve can be created from nurbscurve in library and choose nurbs cuvrve by control points

15. Next connect the Points by coordinate block as input for the nurbs curve. A line will be developed connecting the points.

16.The sinusoidal curve is also developed and also to develop surface.

17. create a group of these items for easy manipulation.

18. This can be done by selecting the required input blocks and then go to edit option in the top portion and then choose create node from selection.

19. copy this entire blocks two times to create the surface.

20. Next create a surface For this, search surface by loft

21. The surface shown some error

Aim: To create a conceptual layout of a floor plan in dynamo.

Procedure:

1. Open the revit software in that start a new one and select a new architectural template.and open the dynamo .

2. create the wall first we have to create four control points.

3. The coordinates in the search panel of the library 1st one is named as origin (0,0,0) control point 1(x,0,0), control point

2(0,y,0) and control point 3(x,y,0).

4. Next open integer sliders to provide the values for x and y to connect these points by a line.

5. search line by start and end point and insert 4 blocks

6. In search type wall in the panel and choose wall by curve and height and this input required are curve, height, level and

wall type.

7. For curve, combine all the four lines in a list by choosing list.create.

8. For height, another number slider is chosen and name it as height.

9. For level, search level in the search panel it will contain the levels availbale in your revit folder. Then choose the level in

which you want to place your structure.

10. search wall type in the panel and it will display the wall types linked in the revit file.

11. In revit file to view the 3D form where the height of the wall is visible

Result:

Hence the conceptual floor plan layout has been developed and is as follows:

3.

Aim: To create an array of model elements in revit.

Procedure:

1. Open a revit software in that a new architectural template in revit file.

2. In that go to architecture tab place a architechtural columns (600mmx600mm) like that 16 ccolumns should be placed.

3. open dynamo search panel of the library search select model elements, integer slider and set rotation.

4. The integer slider is renamed as rotation angle.

5. select the columns and make and angle 45 degrees with the help of integer slider.

Result:

The array of model elements have been created and their properties are being varied through the blocks created in dynamo

4.

Aim: To create a conceptual mass in Revit and develop a parametric column by dividing the surfaces.

Procedure:

1. Open revit software go to file in that new under the families open a new a conceptual mass .

2. Next in elevation view and create a level at 4 m and name it as Height of roof and using spline tool draw the desired

outline for the walkway.

3. Next create a profile to sweep through the curve and set the workplane at the points and develop a polygon at the

workplane keeping the point as centre.

4. polygon is developed with point as center.

5. The both are developed at the nodes.

6. create the surface which done through sweep and select all the polygons and the curve line and choose create form option.

7. select the form divide surface and provide the pattern (triangle bent).

8. open a new family select the Curtain panel pattern based and  select the pattern as triangle bent.

9. Next create a reference point at centre of the face and draw a circle of radius 3" at that reference point.

10. select the enitre form of the walkway and filter it to retain only the divided surface.

11. The conceptual mass have been created.

Result :

The conceptual mass have been created in Revit and is given as follows:

Aim: To develop a Parametric Stadium using dynamo in Revit.

Procedure:

1. open a revit software in that a new architectural template in Revit and then open dynamo.

2. design a high rise structure is created as input in dynamo.

3. In dynamo we have to take Four integer sliders is taken from the library those are no.of levels , floor to floor height , bottom and top floor rotation

4. Next insert a code block from the library to combine level and floor to floor height and type 0..#levels.Floorheight.
and connect the integer sliders named as levels and floor to floor hegiht as input to the code block.

5. search coordinates by origin in the library and insert it and connect the code block as input for z coordinate in the coordinate by origin block.

6. Five points are generated corresponding to 5 levels and insert rectangle by width and length from the library.

7. insert integer slider for length and width and connect the inputs for the rectangle block.

8. Next to rotate the geometry for this we have to insert the rotate block from the library.

9. Rectangle block , insert an origin block from the library and axis insert vector Z axis from the library

10. Degrees insert a code block and type Bottom..Top..# level.

11. The inputs for this code block is already available i.e, Bottom floor rotation, top floor rotation and levels.

12. create surface, for this type surface by loft in library and connect Geometry.rotate block as input for Surface by loft.
