Challenge

Creating Conceptual mass in REVIT and Creation of Sinusoidal curve and a Parametric stadium using Dynamo

TASK 1:

AIM:

To create a set of sinusoidal points and create a curve and create a surface out of the curve by using Dynamo.

PROCEDURE:

  • Open Revit - Open Dynamo tool under the Manage tab in the Ribbon tool bar.
  • In the dynamo Click New.
  • Open Interger Slider - 3 nos - Enter the Values.
  • Open Range - Connect with the integer sliders.
  • Open Points by coordinates XYZ option 2 nos - connect to X coordinates.
  • Open Code Block - Enter the value.
  • Connect the Code Block to the Range List.
  • Open Math.Sin Angle - Connect it with the Range List.
  • Open Product * X Y coordinates
  • Connect Code Block value to Point By Coordinate Z
  • Connect Math.Sin Angle to Product X
  • Code Block Value to Product Y
  • Product * Number to Point BY Coordinate Z.
  • Thus the Sinusodial Point were obtained.

STEP 2:

  • Open Nurbs curve by Control Point option 2 nos.
  • Open List Create Option. add one more List
  • Now Connect the Points from the Point by coordinates to both the Nurbs Curve by Points.
  • Now Connect the Nurbs Curve Points to List Create Options
  • Open Surface by Loft Option and Connect the List create value to cross section.
  • Thus the Surface for the sinusoidal Curve was Developed.

TASK 2:

AIM:

To create a conceptual layout of floor plan in dynamo . Using the tools available in dynamo link the lines to appropriate model elements in Revit by choosing the wall types and wall parameters. Make use of the sliders to slide through the height of the wall and length of the wall.

PROCEDURE:

  • Open Revit - Open Dynamo tool under the Manage tab in the Ribbon tool bar.
  • In the dynamo Click New.
  • Open Interger Slider - 2 nos - Enter the Values. 40 & 30.
  • Open Points by coordinates XYZ option 4 nos - connect to Point bycoordinates to get the 4 Dots
  • Open Line bystartPointendPoint Option 4 nos - Connet the Point bycoordinates to Line bystartpointendpoint options one by one.
  • Till we attain the Closed Loop as rectange.
  • Open List Create Option. add 4 more in the List.
  • Now Connect the Line bystartpointendpoint Line to the List one by one.
  • Thus the Rectangle Line is obtained.

STEP 2:

  • To create the walls, Open Wall. by curve and height.
  • Open Integer Slider and Enter the Value For height of the Wall.
  • Open the Wall Types to choose the type of the walls.
  • Now connect the Integer Slider, Levels, Lists and Wall types to Wall. bycurve and height.
  • Thus the Wall is Created.

STEP 3:

  • To create Floor - Open Floor bytype and Level option.
  • Open the Floor Types to choose the type of the floor.
  • Now connect the Level, Floor type to Open Floor bytype and Level option
  • Thus the Floor is created in the Revit.

TASK 3:

AIM:

To create an array of model elements in Revit. Use dynamo to vary the properties of model elements by using the slider or code block.

PROCEDURE:

  • Open Revit - In the Work Plane Place the Components Example Columns 5 nos.
  • Open Dynamo Software - Open Select Model Elements Multiple
  • Click the Select from Select Model Elements Multiple
  • Select the Columns from the Revit tab.
  • We Can see the Element ID of the Selected Columns.
  • Open the Integer Slider to Enter the Angle Value.
  • Open the FamilyInstance setRotation option.
  • Connect the Integer Slider and Select Model Elements Multiple to the FamilyInstance setRotation option.

Thus the Column is changed from 0 degree to 45 degrees.

TASK 4:

AIM:

To create a conceptual mass in Revit and develop a parametric column by dividing the surfaces and apply the concepts similar to used in parametric walkway modelling. Use triangular bent or square shaped panels to add finish to the parametric column.

PROCEDURE:

  • Open Revit - Open Architectural Templeate.
  • Open File - New - Conceptual Mass - Metric Mass.
  • Open any Elevation and Add Levels to the Mass.
  • Open Level 1 in Floor Plan.
  • Draw a S Curve in the Floor Plan by using Spline through Points.
  • Pick the Points and Set the Work Plane and Draw the Circumscribed Polygon.
  • Repeat the same in all the Spline Points.
  • Select the Polygon and the Curve and Click Create Form Solid Option.
  • Select the Form and Click Divide Surface. Choose the Pattern.
  • Open New Family - Select Curtain Panel Based Wall.
  • Select the Choosen Pattern by selecting the Grids
  • Draw the Profile by using the Draw tool.
  • Load to Project.
  • Thus the Project is Completed.

TASK: 5

AIM:

To use Dynamo to work on developing a Parametric Stadium. List your parameters and use the visual programming approach to complete the modelling, You can use the concepts discussed in parametric high rise tower in class for reference.

PROCEDURE:

  • Open Revit - Open Dynamo tool under the Manage tab in the Ribbon tool bar.
  • In the dynamo Click New.
  • Open Interger Slider - 2 nos - Rename it as the No. of. Floors & Floor Height.
  • Enter the Values.
  • Open Code Block - Enter the value as 0..#levels..floorheight;
  • Open Coordinate system by Origin.
  • Open rectangle.ByWidth&Length.
  • Open Point.Origin.
  • Open Vector.ZAxis.
  • Open Geometry rotate
  • Connect Rectangle, Origin, Vector to Geometry Rotate.
  • Open Polysurface. byloft
  • Thus the Parametric High rise tower is created by using dynamo.

  • Thus the Challenge 10 is completed.
