Creating Bar Bending schedule, Different Door types, and Creation of standard drawing templates using AutoCad
Week 8 – Challenge 8
Creating Door types, blocks, legend & Bar bending Schedule
Aim: To create door types, legend for electrical symbols, bar bending schedule, title block using AutoCAD 2D.
Introduction:
In AutoCAD, Blocks are used as a particular object where we can insert any time in the drawing space. Using Block command, certain blocks are created and there is another thing called write block in which the obtained block can be used in many other drawing spaces. These blocks are mainly useful at times of placing doors, windows, in BBS, in making legends etc where we can just create them once and they’ll be used multiple times whenever we want them.
In this challenge, door types, title blocks, legends for electrical symbols, bar bending schedule & title blocks are created.
Procedure:
- Creating title blocks 1 & 2
- Initially, units are set to decimal and minimum to millimetres.
- Using LIMMAX & LIMIT command, limits are set for drawing space.
- Now, using construction line, horizontal and vertical lines are drafted for reference or benchmark lines and then the title blocks are created using offset command, trim, mirror, copy and move commands respectively.
- For text, single & multi-line text is used and the annotations are made.
- After obtaining the text blocks 1 & 2, they both are converted into blocks using BLOCK command.
- The final text blocks 1 & 2 are obtained.
- Creating Door type 1 & 2
- Initially, units are set to decimal and minimum to millimetres.
- Using LIMMAX & LIMIT command, limits are set for drawing space.
- Now with the given dimensions, door frame is drafted and then, using offset command the required design for the door frame is obtained.
- Trim command is used to trim unnecessary lines that are drafted and then after drafting the 2 door types, they are converted into blocks using BLOCK command in AutoCAD.
- Annotations are made using single line text and using DIMSTYLE manager, dimensions are drafted.
- Creating legend for electrical symbols
- Initially, units are set to decimal and minimum to millimetres.
- Using LIMMAX & LIMIT command, limits are set for drawing space.
- Now, one by one, the symbols are created using circle, rectangle, line, hatch commands and those are converted to blocks each with their respective names.
- After creating all the required symbols as blocks, a table is drafted with required fields.
- Now the blocks are placed one by one as per requirement, then using FIELD option, the names of the blocks are obtained by selecting the object in FIELDS, so that excluding single & multi-line text to annotate the legends.
- The final legend is obtained.
- Creating Doors D1, D2, D3, D4
- Initially, units are set to engineering and minimum to inches.
- Using LIMMAX & LIMIT command, limits are set for drawing space.
- The door frames are drafted using rectangle command and using offset command, the inner portion required designs are obtained.
- At some portions, ARC command is used to obtain D4 & D6.
- TRIM & OFFSET commands are most used to create the doors.
- Each door is created as a individual block using BLOCK command.
- Dimensions are drafted and modified using DIMSTLYE command.
- The final Door types are obtained.
- Creating Bar Bending Schedule
- Initially, units are set to decimal and minimum to millimetres.
- Using LIMMAX & LIMIT command, limits are set for drawing space.
- Using line command, the bar bending schedule diagrams are drafted.
- Dimensions are drafted and modified using DIMSTYLE command.
- Then the drafted figures are converted into blocks using BLOCK command.
- The text is created using single & multi-line text in AutoCAD.
- A table is drafted and then all these figures and text is drafted in the table.
- The final BBS is obtained using AutoCAD 2D.
Result:
The final Door types, Title blocks, Legend, Bar bending schedule is drafted using AutoCAD 2D.
