A. SKETCH 1 – Wardrobe

Challenge 1 – 1. Draw the elevation and details of a wardrobe as shown in the Figure below. After sketching, you need to provide the dimensions and text with the use of layers. Use proper text styles and dimension methods to document it. Also, assume dimensions, wherever needed.
Note: All dimensions are in mm.
PROCEDURE:
--> First, sketch the plan. Detail marks will be provided after the sketches are done .
- Create a rectangle 365x630 in dimension.
- Offset the object inside by 20mm.

- Trim the right line of the inside rectangle and extend the lines to the right.
- Make a another rectangle with 2435x610 dimension using the upper left corner as a base point.

- Explode the created rectangle and offset the top, left, and right line inside by 20units.
- Fillet the created lines at the corner. Fillet radius is equal to zero.

- Offset the inner left and right line inside by 1170mm.

- Create a rectangle object using the lower left corner as base point with 600x20mm dimension. Move this rectangle 5mm to the right.

- Copy the rectangle object to the midpoint of the line above. Then move 5 mm to the left.

- Make a 45 degree line from the lower left corner of the rectangle. Lenght of line is 450mm. Use the polyline tool instead of line.
- Connect the end point of that line to the lower right corner of the rectangle.

- Hover on the midpoint grip of the second line. An option will appear, select "Convert to arc" and make the line an arc.
- Mirror this polyline object to the right and move it to the endpoint of the rectangle on the right.

- Mirror the selected polyline object to the right. Use the midpoint of the lower line object as mirror line. Click any point up or down for the second point and do not erase source object.

- Do the same technique to sketch the door on the right side. Use the upper right corner as base point.

- Add the rectangle on the left side. Use the rectangle tool and reacte a rectangle object with 35x50mm dimension. Use the lower left corner as base point.
- Move it 15mm upward.

- Create a boundary polyline object outside the top and left of the sketch. This will be used to create the hatch. Any dimension will do. This polyline object will be deleted later after the hatch is created.

- Select the hatch tool and click "Select object" as the option. Select the created polyline object (enclosed object) and press "Enter".
- Use the toolbar above the AutoCAD interface to change the style of the hatch pattern. You can also open the properties tool bar and edit the "Pattern name" and "Scale". Use Hatch patter = ANSI31.
- Delete the polyline object after creating the hatch.

- Use the DTEXT tool to add the required texts on the sketch.

- Use the Dimlinear tool to add the dimensions required.

--> Proceed to the Front Elevation. Use the polar snapping tool to align the plan drawing with the front elevation drawing.
- Draw the base line, use Line command to draw a straigh horizontal line at the top of the Plan. It serves as the baseline of the front elevation.
- Then draw a rectangle using the rectangle tool with 2800x2600 dimension. Make sure that the edges are aligned with the plan drawing.

- Explode the rectangle.
- Offset the left line 20mm inside. Then offset the top line by 12mm inside.
- Fillet thecorner using the fillet tool. Use fillet radius as 0.

- Offset the right line inside by 365mm. Then trim the excess line above.
- Then divide the middle space into 4 spaces and make a line to divide the spaces. The offset tool can be used once the space is calculated. 2423/4 = 605.75mm.

- Offset the topline by 500mm downward and the bottom line by 100 upward. Then connect the corners by a line creating an X image.

- Create the rectangle below. Use the rectangle tool and specify the lower right corner as base point. Dimensions are 75x900.

- Create the doorknob. Create a circle with 25mm diameter at the top right corner of the created rectangle object.
- Then move it by 50 right and 50 up.

- Create a rectangle object as hatch boundary. Use this as selected object when the hatch tool is used.
- Delete the lines afterward.

- Add the dimensions on the side. Use the Dimlinear command.

- Add the texts required using the dimlinear command. Use the Leader command to make the arrow for the section.

3. Conclusion
***************
The AutoCAD software not only can provide drawings, but also reference through the use of other softwares such as PDF. By utilizing an image or a pdf file into the AutoCAD software, one can assume or trace the actual measurement of a given image. With the use of the scaling system, the AutoCAD software allows the user to have references through images. It also helps in resizing a given sketch. This also applies in the dimensioning of the sketch where the units scale and factor can be manipulated. The scaling system in AutoCAD also applies to line scales, hatch scales and many more which controls the image shown in the interface.
