Creating a Layout, Section and Elevation with dimensions using AutoCad
AIM & INTRODUCTION :
AIM :
- To Create the Plan and Sections as shown in the Figures by using proper dimension techniques and dimension styles to document the project and also assuming the sizes of the doors and windows as per construction standards.
INTRODUCTION :
- The plan which was given in the "figure - 1" was a floor plan of the 3 storey building.
- This given floor plan includes the all 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors of the building.
- The given "figure - 2" was about the elevation of that 3 storey building from the section - AA along with steps from ground floor to the terrace.
- Atlast the given "figure - 3" was about the elevation from the section - BB .
PROCEDURE :
1.) 1ST, 2ND AND 3RD FLOOR PLAN :
- To create the floor plan the total area of the plan should be drawn by using "line tool" or "rectangle" tool.
- Then the walls and room sizes are separated by the "offset" tool with its required values.
- The steps, doors and windows are created by reffering given dimensions or by taking standard sizes.
- Especially the steps are created by using "copy" and "array" tool from drawing a single step line.
- The texts are created by using the "Mtext" tool and copied for the multiple text required areas through "copy" tool.
- The dimensions are specified by using a tool called "Dimlinear".
- For the lines with arrows the "Qleader" tool was used.
- It should be quick saved after every completion of the every specific drawing created by using the shortcut key "ctrl+s" or by typing "qsave".
2.) SECTION: - AA
- For the creation of the elevation drawing, we shoud take a reference of the floor plan drawing from section - AA.
- The dimensions of the windows and doors are directly taken from the actual size of the floor plan dimension by the "line" tool or by "xline" tool.
- If some of the dimensions are couldn't be done with the reference from the floor plan then it can be done individually either using :offset" tool or :Line" tool as per the required values.
- The Riser and the Tread values of the steps are given as reference to draw. (Tread - 250mm, Riser - 143.75mm)
3.) SECTION : - BB
- To create the elevation drawing, like discussed before we shoud take a reference of the floor plan drawing from section - BB.
RESULT :
1.) 1ST, 2ND AND 3RD FLOOR PLAN :

2.) SECTION: - AA

3.) SECTION : - BB
