Conceptual design of a building with columns and shear walls
1.
RESTRIANT OF FLOOR SRINKAGE
(a) will have higher restraint to srinkage.thus lead to cracks in floor.
(b) avarage
(c) will not effectively restraint the srinkage , so possssibly less cracks.
THE LATERAL STIFNESS
OPTION (b) will provide higher stiffness for a pure seismic accelaration in x and y direction.
TORSION WITH RESPECT TO VERTICAL AXIS
option (A) will be best option W.R.T. torsional resistance whereas option c is worst one.
VERTICAL REINFORCEMENT FOR SIMILAR BASE CAPACITY
option (C) will require higher vertical reinforcement and option (b) will reqire the least.
STATIC ECENTRICITY
only option c will have static eccentricity
SYSTEM REDUNDANCY
option a and b are more redendent then option.
2.
ISSUE IN THE GIVEN FRAMING FRAME PLAN
INDIRECT LATERAL TRANFER IN X AND Y DIRECTION- the beam are connecting to another beams which is ineffective during lateral load transfer. in such condition the primery beam is prone to sher failure.
ECCENTRICITY- the longer the distance between center of mass and center of stifness the higher torsinal moment of the building. as per the given plan ecentricity the building is subjected to higheer torsinal moment in both x and y direction.
STRONG BEAM AND WEAK COLOUMN POSSIBILITY- THE size of the column majorly mentioned as 25cm*25cm. but all the beam have much deeper section 500cm. inertia of beam is visually higher than column.
3.
OBSERVATION IN THE GIVEN FRAMING PLAN:
FLOOR PLAN- the floor plan of building is not eighter uniform or sysmtric. so naturally any lateral load induced in the floor will have 100% influnce in same diection. definetly a special lateral load resistance system for these torsinal moment should be accommodated.
RANDOM INTERNAL COLUMN- since internal column are rendom they are unble to tranfer lateral loads efficiently and can not achieve desirable building response so we have to assume and design those coloumn for only gravity load.
FLOOR TO FLOOR VARATION IN PARTITION WALL AND BEAM- partition wall provided an important mass control in a building and beam play key role in shear transfer floor to beam .
all these element are not in order . so heavy distortion and distribution of lateral load will happen.
SUGGESTION ON THE LATERAL SYSTEM AND ITS FOUNDATION
- heavy tortional should be controlled by respective lateral system so corner shear wall are suggested.
- the proportion of floor area is greater on the left side then the right .
- corner shear wall shall preferbly be supported by isolated. those isolated can be connected with shear walls shear wall through tie beam.
