Benchmarking

BENCHMARKING:
Benchmarking in automotive design process is the practice of comparing and analyzing the design and performance of one's own vehicles or components with those of competitors or industry leaders in order to identify best practices, opportunities for improvement, and to set performance targets.
In the automotive industry, benchmarking can be used to measure a wide range of attributes such as vehicle handling, fuel efficiency, ride quality, durability, and safety features. By comparing a vehicle or component to similar products on the market, automakers can identify areas where they are lagging behind the competition or where they can improve their product design, engineering, and manufacturing processes.
