Bench marking :

Bench marking means commonly we are listening as a standard for a product but in the automotive industry it is different from others comparsion.

In the automobile benchmarking is the process of analyzing the choices of similar factor based on the selction factor and deduction into it to final conclusion.

In this we have to see the case of mr. Pughazhyendhii

Case:

Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii is a married man who lives in Bangalore which is a highly crowded city. His Family comprises five members including his wife, a five-year-old boy, his father, and his mother. 1. Mr. Pughazhyendhii and his family travel to visit to his native village of Madurai in tamilnadu once on a month.

To buy a car we have to choose some categories

  1. car durability and safety

According to this I will suggest 4 cars for Mr. Pughazhyendhii

3.Honda Amaze

4.Maruti Vitara Brezza

TATA Nexon :

Mahindra XUV300:

Honda Amaze:

Maruti Vitara Brezza:

  • Comparing above 4 vehicles every vehicle is special in one of the departments. Like
  • In service network and service support TATA, Mahindra, Maruti have a good network. compare to Honda.
  • Mahindra and TATA gives a good competition both in safety.
  • Maruti and TATA maintenance wise is better compare to remaining competition companys.
  • Coming to engine power Nexon , Xuv , Amaze are similar power but brezza is more power than others.

Benchmarking:

In the automobile benchmarking is the process of analyzing the choices of similar factor based on the selction factor and deduction into it to final conclusion.

Bench marking coming under the process of vehicle development process.

benchmarking was divided into four process

1)Bench marking-1

2)Concept preparation

3)Carry over study

4)Bench marking-2

Bench marking-1

In this process we are to plan a design concept for a model check the other competitors about features ,power . what are to be included in our model to reach people more than competitors it is like a research and development stage.

Concept preparation:

  • In this section we are plan to make a vehicle like 5seater or 7seater
  • It is constructed under 4m or above 4m.
  • Sedan or hatch back or suv are to be taken consideration in this stage.

Carryover study:

  • It is the main stage for a vehicle development.
  • In this stage we are see in two types like
  • One is new model
  • Second is the already establish model to develop to decrease the flaws from feedback of the customers.it is named as parental car development.
  • In this stage we are take a parent model as reference and decrease the parts and modified the part for increase the durability of a vehicle.
  • Due to this manufacturing cost was decreased and parts rate also goes down.

Benchmarking -2:

  • In this stage we are compare all above 3 stages included in this stage
  • We are going to research on parent model and considered
  • No of parts required for a model
  • Total weight of a body
  • Materials to be used
  • Thickness of a material used on development of a vehicle

This all are giving a clarity on manufacturing cost, power of a vehicle,

Quality, mileage and maintenance of a vehicle.

Any company manufacturer thinks mainly about customer satisfaction.

Above stages are satisfied on every stage model was easy to reach in the public.

Example for benchmarking:

In this stage we are take Maruti swift.

In 2005 swift model was launched in the Indian market it have a good marks in all departments

It is the good example for benchmarking model taken as a parent model . last 15 years it was developed in many aspects like interiors, infotainment system, power of the vehicle, mileage, design ,durability.

As per google reports customers are very satisfying about this developments of a car for their requirements.

BS-VI variant of a SWIFT:

In this variant we are observe design , infotainment , parking sensors , interiors , steering and drive stability, braking are modified compared to old swift.

Benchmarking means the modification and development of a model to requirements. I think it is a good example for a benchmarking concept.

Conclusion:

Finally all the comparison of the four vehicles TATA Nexon is a suitable vehicle for Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii and his family it is comfort for both city and long distance travel.

Mainly safety rating was 5 star rating it is good to hear for family.

For city auto transmission is good and comfort but budget is low that’s why manual transmission is to taken we are considered diesel variant it have a good mileage in long run and gives more power in long run.
