Scenario

As Bengaluru is a renowned city for its traffic, that’s why I feel manual transmission will be a wrong choice and it is better to go with CVT or AMT(both are the types of automatic transmissions).

As Mr. Pughazhyendhii is fond of big cars and has a family of 5, I have selected only SUV’s.

So the 3 SUV’s with respect to his maximum budget of 10 lakhs are as follows:

Most of the features of these 3 cars are identical. The common features are 5 seating, similar ground clearence, inline 4 cylinder engine, 2 airbags, similar cc.

Renault Duster RxS(Opt)

1. It is a BS 4 petrol engine with 1498cc displacement and has a mileage of 13.87 kmpl which is very low compared to the nexon and brezza which are diesel engines, and weighs 1813kgs which is approximately 200 kgs heavier than the other two.
2. It has 6 gears compared to the 5 gears in nexon and brezza.
3. It has a boot space of 475 litres which 100+ litres more than the other two cars.
4. The ventitlation system is Manual Air conditioning with cooling and heating, whereas nexon and brezza has Fully automatic climate control.
5. It has Electro-Hydraulic power steering which is an uperhand compared to the electro powered of nexon and brezza.
6. It has CVT system which is more engine efficient than the AMT system in nexon and brezza.
7. It misses out the tinted windows feature which are available in nexon and brezza.
8. The parking assistance is better than the other two as it has front and rear sensors with camera.
9. The cost is higher than the other two cars because of the additional instrumentation.
10. It has a safety star of 4/5.

Tata Nexon XMA Diesel

1. It is a BS 6 diesel engine with 1497cc displacement and has a mileage of 23.97 kmpl which is similar to that of brezza and higher than duster.
2. It has 5 gears which is similar to that of brezza but lower than duster.
3. The ventitlation system is Fully automatic climate control which is also a similar feature in brezza.
4. It has electro powered power steering which is similar to brezza, but not as good as the Electro-Hydraulic steering of duster.
5. It has AMT system like which is better than manual but not that engine efficient like CVT of brezza.
6. It has tinted windows feature which is available in brezza and not in duster.
7. The parking assistance has just the rear sensors unlike the camera feature feature available in duster
8. It has the least amount of instrumentations fitted compared to the other two.
9. It has a safety star of 5/5.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza ZDI AGS

1. It is a BS 4 diesel engine with 1248cc displacement which is lower than the other two and has a mileage of 24.3 kmpl which is similar to that of brezza and higher than duster.
2. It has 5 gears which is similar to that of brezza but lower than duster.
3. The ventitlation system is Fully automatic climate control which is also a similar feature in brezza.
4. It has electro powered power steering which is similar to brezza, but not as good as the Electro-Hydraulic steering of duster.
5. It has AMT system like which is better than manual but not that engine efficient like CVT of brezza.
6. It has tinted windows feature which is available in brezza and not in duster.
7. The parking assistance has just the rear sensors unlike the camera feature feature available in duster
8. The instrumentation is better than nexon but not as good as duster.
9. It has a safety star of 4/5.

Conclusion

1. In terms of engine Nexon is the winner as it’s the only BS 6 out of the three.
2. In terms of instrumentation Duster is the winner.
3. In terms of transmission system, duster’S CVT beat AMT of nexon and brezza.
4. In terms of displacement both Nexon and Duster are better than brezza.
5. In terms of safety Nexon is the winner with 5/5 rating

So keeping in mind the above points, I suggest Mr. Pughazhyendhii to go for Tata Nexon as it has better and latest engine with good mileage and better safety rating though it lacks in the instrumentation.
