Assembly of Yacht
TITLE : DESIGN THE FULL COMPONENT AND ASSEMBLY OF “PREDATOR YATCH “
INTRODUCTION :
The presented report covers the designing part of “PREDATOR YATCH” , a complete assembly of it and its rendering. Here we are going to design the various components of the yatch.
Objective :
The practice of creating things can be justified as DESIGN. Here we will understand how tools work when we use them and we will focus on designing the various components of the Predator Yatch by the means of these tools and complete design. The main aim of the project is to create a surface model of different yatch parts, assemble them using SOLIDWORKS 2018 software, and to create render model using SOLIDWORK VISUALIZE software.
PART MODELING
Parts can be created from a conceptual sketch through solid modeling as well as build and modify parts through direct or intuitive graphical manipulation.
SURFACE MODELING
Surface Modeling provides the ability to build surface visual representation of the exterior of a object or product. In modeling the yatch surface modeling plays a key role because most of the parts of the yatch are surface model and are built by the help of surface modeling.
FEATURES USED IN THE MODELING OF YATCH
LOFTED SURFACE
Lofted surface are the surface generated by the help of multiple 3D curve or exesting edges creating a smooth tangency between the selected curves.
SWEPT SURFACE
These are the surfaces created from a section curve positioned along a path.
FILLED SURFACE
This feature constructs a surface patch with any number of sides, within a boundary defined by existing model edges, sketches or curves including composite curve.
SURFACE TRIM
Surface Trim is used to cut away unwanted material from a surface and provides two modes: standard and mutual.
SURFACE KNIT
It is used to knit two open edges of surface together. It also reduces the gap between the edges of the surface.
EXTEND SURFACE
It is usually used to extend the surface. Using this feature we can extend the surface as the same surface or extend surface tangent to the previous surface.
SKETCH
It is the representation of a model in 2D plane/view from the outside of the model.
CIRCULAR PATTERN
It is used to create the pattern of model. Using this we can create multiple patterns.
REVOLVE
It is used to create a revolve feature.
EXTRUDE CUT
It is used to remove material from a 3D model.
MIRROR
It helps us to replicate the model on the other side of the mirror face selected.
MAJOR PARTS OF THE YATCH
- PROPELLAR
A propeller is a fan mechanism that transmits power by converting rotational motion into thrust.
Features used
Sketch, Revolve, Cut Extrude, Loft, Fillet, Circullar pattern

- RADAR
Marine radar is an X band or S band radar mounted on the ship which usually inspects and detects other ship and land obstacles.
Features used
Sketch, Extrude, Mirror, Cut Extrude, Fillet, Sketch driven pattern.

- HULL
A hull is the base/ waterlight body of a ship. It can be open or fully closed by a deck.
Features used
Sketch, Project Curve, Swept Curve. Loft Surface, Extrude Surface, Extend Surface, Surface Knit, Extrude, Mirror, Cut Extrude, Fillet , Pattern, Split, Shell

- FRONT SEAT
A front seat is placed on the front side of the hull
Features used
Surface Sweep, Surface Extend, Surface Trim, Surface Fill, Surface Loft, Surface Knit, Chamfer, Fillet, revolve, Cut Extrude, Dome

- MIDDLE SEAT
A middle seat is placed in the middle of the hull. Here it is palced under superstructure.
Feature Used
Boss Extrude, Cut Extrude, Fillet, Chamfer

- REAR SEAT
A rear seat is placed at the back of the hull.
Feature Used
Fillet, Chamfer, Split Line, Cut Extrude, Extrude, Surface Offset, Surface Trim

- SUPERSTRUCTURE
In the presented yatch, it is the name given to the structure that emerges from the deck.
Feature used
Sketch, Project Curve, Surface Trim, Surface Fill, Extend Surface, Surface Extrude, Lofted Surface, Boundary Surface, Delete Surface, Fillet, Swept Surface, Surface Knit, Boss Extrude, Cut Extrude, Split, Mirror

- RADAR MAST
Feature used
Revolve, Sketch, Boss Extrude, Fillet, Mirror, Swept Boss/Base, Shell

- ASSEMBLY
The modeled parttsare aseembled in the assembly environment using possible mate conditions.

- RENDERING
The assembly is given a photorealistic rendering.

- CONCLUSION
The parts of the yatch are modeled.
The parts are inserted in the assembly environment and assembled.
A photorealistic image of assembly is rendered.
