Analysis & Design of RCC shear walls in the model using ETABS
AIM-
to using etabs file a G+6 building is provided. run the analysis and design the rcc shear wall.
PROCEDURE-
STEP 1
- open the etabs model provided with challenge
- then go to plan view of terrence plan view
- to see all the frame details

STEP 2
only allow to show grid A-11 shear wall
set working plan as all stories then select A-11 shear wall and turn show selected object only

STEP 3
then run the analysis so click on run amnalysis tab to get value of stucture

STEP 4
design the shear wall click on shear wall design tab

STEP 5
drop down the shear wall design option
and click onn the reinforcement detailling option

STEP 6
now get information of boundary zones width from design results option

STEP 7
same get longitudnal r/f from shear wall design results

STEP 8
find out the story data
open the story data from edit strory data option
from edit tab

STEP 9
shaer wall detailing calculation;
hence totel height of the wall is 21000mm and tthe width of the wall is 1500mm.
hence the ratio obtained as 21000/ 1500= 14 which is greater then 2 hence, it can be cosidered as a slender wall.
maximum diameter of the bar that can be used fron IS code = 1/10th of thicknessof taht part= 30mm
hence , we take the dia of bar as 25mm
maximum spacing between the bars should not exeed the minimum of the flllowing
a). 1/5*1500= 300mm
b). 3*300= 900mm
c). 450mm
hence the maximum spacing is limited to 300mm
longitudnal reinforcement:
longitudnal reinforcement obtained
13128mm2
since we are using 25mm dia bars
so the no. of bars reqired 13128/490= 28 bars
hence the total area of the reinforcemnt is provided 13720mm2 hence its safe.
now minimum vertical reinforcenmnt to provided the brondry condition
0.008*1500*300= 3600mm2
in the web arrea mimimum reinforcement provided is 0.0025*1500*300= 1125mm2 and the provided amoumnt of reinforcement in web area is 3920mm2 hence it is safe.
SO LET US PROVIDE 8MM DIA @100MM C/C , THEN THE PROVIDED AREA OF
REINFORCEMNT WILL BE 1000MM2. HENCE IT IS SAFE.
