Metal bracket-II

OBJECTIVE:

The aim of this project is to design the Bracket-II using NX CAD.

INTRODUCTION:

A bracket is an intermediate component for fixing one part to another. It is used to support the weight. Brackets vary widely in shape, here we are designing an L- shaped bracket.

The shape and dimension of your bracket will be determined by the shape of the item it is holding up but will also be affected by the load capabilities and the ease in manufacturing. Keep in mind that strength considerations of metal bracket design are not just functions of the material thickness but of the bracket shape. As a metal part, adding specific features to the bracket can improve strength dramatically.

NX is widely used Computer Aided Designing software for multi purposes like designing, engineering and manufacturing. It used in various fields for different works. Using different features and methods we have designed here.

DESIGN METHODOLOGY:

FEATURES:

Sketch:

Creates a sketch in the current application. Use the Direct Sketch tools to add curves, dimensions, constraints, etc.

Contour Flange:

Creates a base feature by extruding a sketch along a vector, or adds material by sweeping a sketch along an edge or chain of edges.

Normal Cutout:

Cuts material by projecting a sketch onto the model and then cutting perpendicular to the faces intersected by the projection.

Break Corner:

Rounds or chamfers a sharp corner of a tab or flange.

Unbend:

Flattens a bend and the material adjacent to the bend.

Hole:

Adds a hole to one or more solid bodies in a part or assembly with options for counterbored, countersunk, and threaded.

Advanced Flange:

Adds a flange along an edge using a bend angle or a reference face. The edge and reference face can be curved.

Rebend:

Restores an unbend feature to its previous bent state, along with any features added after the unbend feature.

Gusset:

Creates a stiffening gusset on the part.

CONCLUSION:

Sheet metal bracket is designed successfully using NX Cad software. From this project, we get to understand advanced flange and gusset features.
