- Title of the Project:--ODD SHAPED ENCLOSURE
- Objectives:--
The objective of the project is to design a sheet metal odd shaped enclosure using Sheet metal application in Siemens NX and a drawing sheet needs to be drafted for the designed model using drawing application in NX.
- Introduction:--
Sheet metal is metal formed by an industrial process into thin, flat pieces. Sheet metal is one of the fundamental forms used in metal working, and it can be cut and bent into a variety of shapes. Countless everyday objects are fabricated from sheet metal. Thicknesses can vary significantly; extremely thin sheets are considered foil or leaf, and pieces thicker than 6 mm (0.25 in) are considered plate steel or "structural steel".
Sheet metal is available in flat pieces or coiled strips. The coils are formed by running a continuous sheet of metal through a roll slitter.
- Design Methodology:--

DESCRIPTION:
- Sketch:
2D Sketching in Drawings. You can create drawing geometry using 2D sketched geometry only, without reference to existing models or assemblies. ... When you drag a sketch point in a drawing, it snaps or infers to other sketches, drawing views, blocks, and items in the sheet format.

- Extrude:
An Extruded Boss/Base feature will allow you to take a 2D sketch and add thickness to it in the third dimension. The Extrude command in the Features toolbar.

- Sheet Metal From Solid Body:
In modelling is to create sheet metal object from solid body. NX provides a command as sheet metal from solid which convert a solid body to sheet form. To convert, first we specify web faces and then specify bend edges. Pre-set values or global values of bend radius and K factor are applied with specified thickness.

- Flange:
In this step we created a flange on one of the side of enclosure. To create this flange we used flange command it gives a sheet surface at an angle specified and add bend between two surfaces. To apply flange we need to specify the edge ,length, angle, length reference, inset type and bend radius.

- Jog:
Jog is a tool which lifts material on one side of the jog line and adds a flange between two sides. The section for jog the must consist of a single line across a planar face. Jog provides rigidity to a part by creating step in tab or face. In model we applied jog on opposite face to flange.

- Unbend:
To apply extra features, we need to unbend component so applied feature will be normal to profile and give exact result as required.

- Beads:
To provide stiffness to component beads are applied. It lifts material along a sketched contour to simulate stamping tool. NX provides a very simple way to apply beads, the input to bead is a sketch which is line for the current model and parameters like depth, radius, and type of cross section.

- Holes:
Holes are added to provide alignment to enclosure. NX provides whole feature has options like general type, counterbore, countersink, etc. Position, Diameter and depth are important inputs to apply hole to a body.

- Rebend:
Rebend command will bend the component in order as we unbended previously. We can perform this in a single go or in steps.

- Flat Pattern:
It is the representation of entire Sheetmetal component is 2D form. This flat pattern shows entire features that are performed over sheet like bends, cut-outs, holes, dimples, beads in form of line drawing.

- DRAFTING (Drawing Sheet)
It is refers to creating technical drawing that communicate about dimensions, view of component geometry and other features that performed over part in 2D or 3D. The draft of drawing is prepared which include annotation, dimension, relations, etc. which helps to a person from manufacturing or production department about component.

- Conclusion:--
The sheet metal Recommended workflow to create enclosures with odd shapes or angles is successfully completed in NX Cad.
