Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_5_Odd Shaped Enclosure
Title: Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Odd Shaped Enclosure.
Objective: To model Odd shaped enclosure using NX CAD application.
Introduction:
- NX CAD: NX, formerly known as "unigraphics", is an advanced high-end CAD/CAM/CAE, which has been owned since 2007 by Siemens PLM Software.
- Sheet metal: It is metal formed by an industrial process into thin, flat pieces. Sheet Metal parts are manufactured from a single sheet of metal the part must maintain a uniform wall thickness. Sheet metal parts with a minimum of 0.9mm to 20mm in thickness can be manufactured.
Design methodology:
Creating enclosures with odd shaped enclosure or angles.

Tools and features:
- Extrude: It is used to create a solid body of given profile.
- Flange: Creating a bent feature on sides of sheet metal.
- Sheet metal from solid: A sheet metal is wrapped around the solid body by using this feature.
- Jog: It creats a bend on the sheet metal at repective position w.r.t profile.
- Bend: Sheet metal is bended at required angle.
- Holes: Holes are formed by cutting the metal at required positions of different shapes.
- Dimple: An embedded feature is obtained with the help of sketch inward or outward.
- Flat pattern: This features makes the sheet metal into flat by selcting a single face of sheet.
- Unbend: Sheet at bended surfaces is unbended.
- Rebend: Unbended surface is rebended.
- Bead: Profile is beaded for strengthening the sheet.
- Datum plane: A new plane is created w.r.t reference Datum.
- Base view: This command is available in drafting sheet, ehich is used to select a base view of a part that modelled which need to be placed from the centre of the sheet.
- Normal cutout: Cutting the sheet of profile normally.
- Replace view: This feature replaces/adds a new view.
- Line: This is 2D representation to draw a sketch for 3D feature operations.
