Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_5_Odd Shaped Enclosure
TITLE OF THE PROJECT: Designing of a sheet metal part of odd shape.
OBJECTIVE: To design a 'Sheetmetal part of odd shape' using Siemens NX Sheetmetal Application.
INTRODUCTION: For studying different tools and features used for designing sheet metal design parts, this project was selected. This project was selected. This project was mainly focused in providing an idea about the workflow in creating a part design and to familiarize certain tools in this application.
DESIGN METHODOLOGY:
As shown in the flowchart, I started by creating a solid body through extrude feature. Then the solid body is wrapped with sheet metal. Then certain additional features like bends jogs and flanges were added to the base feature. Then it unbended and certain feature like beads and holes were applied on the base feature. Then it was rebended and a flat pattern was created.
DESCRIPTION:
For designing of a Sheetmetal part of odd shape the following features were used:
1) TAB: This tool was used to create a base feature by extruding the sketch along a direction by thickness value.
2) SHEET METAL FROM SOLID: To wrap the solid with sheet metal.
3) BEND: To create a bend specified to an edge or sketch input.
4) FLANGE: This is used to add a flange at any angle to a planar face producing a bend between the two faces.
5) JOG FLANGE: To create a flange along a line given as input.
6) BEAD: To lift material along the contour of the sketch.
7) UNBEND: To flatten the bend features.
8) REBEND: The unbended features are bended using this feature.
9) FLAT PATTERN: Used to create a flat plattern for draft purposes.
