Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_2_Box Assembly
Title: Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad - Box Assembly
Objective: To model Box assembly using NX CAD application.
Introduction:
- NX CAD: NX, formerly known as "unigraphics", is an advanced high-end CAD/CAM/CAE, which has been owned since 2007 by Siemens PLM Software.
- Sheet metal: It is metal formed by an industrial process into thin, flat pieces. Sheet Metal parts are manufactured from a single sheet of metal the part must maintain a uniform wall thickness. Sheet metal parts with a minimum of 0.9mm to 20mm in thickness can be manufactured.
Design methodology:

Tools and features:
- Tab: By creating a new sketch, base is obtained with mentioned thickness of sheet metal.
- Flange: Creating a bent feature on sides of sheet metal.
- Closed corner: Creating or closing the corner of sheet.
- Hem flange: Creating flange in completely in U-direction.
- Mirror body: Mirroring the body w.r.t a reference plane.
- Unite: Combine two or more bodies into a single body.
- Dimple: An embedded feature is obtained with the help of sketch inward or outward.
- Mirror feature: Mirroring the features w.r.t a reference plane.
- Unbend: Sheet at bended surfaces is unbended.
- Rebend: Unbended surface is rebended.
- Bead: Profile is beaded for strengthening the sheet.
- Datum plane: A new plane is created w.r.t reference Datum.
- Break corner: Cutting the corner of sheet in circular manner.
- Normal cutout: Cutting the sheet of profile normally.
