Box Assembly

  • Sketch a rectangle and create a Tab by selecting four of the rectangle curves and use the value 1 as thickness and the create consecutive Flanges as to get the desired shape of a box by just providing the edges length and other inputs like length reference, inset and a bend parameters.
  • Next select the Closed corner command and then select its type as Close and Relief and also select the adjacent bends or faces. After that select the treatment as closed and say OK. (Did the same on the other side as well).
  • Again execute the command Flange with different length and select the length reference as web and the inset mode as Material inside, This time keep bend parameters as zero. (Do the same to the adjacent side of the figure).
  • Now select the item Flange command and select the particular edge and make the inset as bend outside with the bend radius as 0.5 and flange length as 5.
  • The next is to Mirror the body along the desired plane or to create the other half of the box.
  • Unite the mirrored body and the original body i.e select the Target body and the Tool body under unite command and say OK. This command will merge and knit the solids together making it as a single body.
  • Again create a sketch on the front face of the box, the sketch is shaped as X. Create it by using continious lines or rectangles and execute the Dimple command with first selecting all the curves and secondly apply certain depth, angle, depth reference and side walls.
  • Now, mirror the sketch and the dimple to the other face of the box by selecting the Mirror Feature command and select the sketch and the dimple as the mirror feature and also select the plane and say OK.
  • Now rotate the model to the bottom view and create one rectangle sketch on that face and again execute the Dimple command as we did earlier for the front face. Just to review it for the Unbend the model and Rebend the model again.
  • Create a new plane on the bottom part of the model and sketch a circle of provided dimensions and select the bend command and selecting the curve and selecting the depth and giving certain radius and just say OK.
  • Now mirror the above sketch as well as the executed command for bend and select the particular plane to mirror the feature by mirror feature command. Do the same for the other sides of the model as described.
  • Create hem flanges at the top face edges of the box model. The selections will be the top edges, inset as bend outside, flange length and say ok (do the same for the edges of the top face of model assembly).
  • After doing so, create a new Datum plane at the top face with the offset distance of 203mm and say OK.
  • The next step is to design lid, so create a new sketch on the newly generated plane. Select line and start sketching lines matching the top face edges. (Also using 3 points arcs). After its done apply tab to the sketch lines and arcs and execute the tab command.
  • After the Tab is created, create flanges to the tabbed edges of the top face of the model. Apply desired flanges to the tabbed edges with the selection as web for length reference and material outside for inset. Make sure that bend radius will be 0.5.
  • Now create a new sketch on the side face of the model . Draw rectangle with certain dimensions and execute the tab command with 1mm thickness. Now select Break corner command and select the lower left corner edge and by the help of Blend method and certain radius execute the command.
  • Now add a flange to the top edge of the tabbed surface with certain length and using length reference as web and inset as material outside. Make sure to change the angle to 40 degree. Add another flange to the top edge of the flange that we just created with the same specifications we used earlier.
  • Select the item flange command and then select the flange we created earlier and select the item type or Open loop and inset as bend outside with certain bend radius and certain sueep angle.
  • Now Unbend the modelled part and create a new sketch on that face and create rectangular sections with certain dimensions and execute the nNormal cut out command and say ok. Then again rebend the part by rebend command. Now mirror that body with the help of miror body feature and also selecting the desired plane and say OK.
  • Now select the top face of the box and create a new sketch select rectangle and draw it over the top plane of the box and then add a flange to its edge with certain angle and length make sure to keep the length reference as web and material outside.
  • Next, add a Hem flange, with the hem type as open loop and select the inset as bend outside with certain bend radius and sweep angle make sure to provide bend relief with certain depth and width.
  • Now Unbend the same part and create a new sketch on that face and sketch rectangles as we did earlier and execute the Normal cutout command with certain depth and say ok.
  • The last step is to Rebend the model and say ok.Box asembly is done.
