Challenge

3D Creation of Celing, Roof, Architectural plan, Structural plan, Sectional view, Elevation view and Camera specific view for a house plan using REVIT

1) Based on the project saved from Week 3, proceed from the First Floor Level. Model a Ceiling from the architecture tab above the walls at the first-floor level

AIM: To model a ceiling from the architecture tab above the walls at the first-floor level

PROCEDURE:

STEP 1:

  • Open the Revit software
  • Open the saved week 3 project
  • From the Architecture toolbar select ceiling and assign it to the first floor in level 2 view

RESULT:

2) Model a roof above the ceiling by selecting the footprints of the ceiling. Using the adjustment toolbars appearing on-screen adjust the roof slope to 10 degrees

AIM: To create a roof above the ceiling and adjust the roof to a slope of 10 degrees

PROCEDURE:

STEP 1:

  • From the architecture tab select roof and in it roof by footprint
  • Go to level 2 and set the base offset as required, in edit type give the desired thickness
  • Assign the boundary lines by drawing tools
  • From 3D view

STEP 2: Assign the slope of 10 degrees to the roof

  • In manage toolbar go to the project units change slope units to the degree

  • Select the roof in 3D view and in the properties tab assign the slope as 10 degrees

RESULT:

  • The roof is created above ceiling with a slope of 10 degree

3) Using the file saved from weeks 2 to 4, create plan views for ground floor level and first-floor level including all the walls, floors, and components. Separate them to
architecture and structural plans

a. Architecture plan must have walls, floors, and all the components placed within the building

AIM: To create Architectural plan views for ground floor and first-floor levels having walls, floors and components

PROCEDURE:

STEP 1:

  • Go to view toolbar and select Plan views -> floor plan
  • Select edit type and select identify data and assign as architectural plan and apply
  • Similar steps are followed for the first floor also

RESULT:

GROUND FLOOR:

FIRST FLOOR:

b. Structure plan must have details of only walls, floors, and columns

AIM: To create a Structural plan

PROCEDURE:

  • Go to view toolbar and select the plan views click on the structural plan and click ok
  • Select edit type and select identify data and assign as architectural plan and apply

RESULT:

GROUND FLOOR :

FIRST FLOOR:

4) Using annotate toolbar add dimensions to all the walls and floors with reference to the longitudinal and transverse grids created in the project file

a. The architecture plan dimensions include details on where the components are placed within the buildings with relation to grids. Overall dimensions are sufficient for architecture plans

AIM: To provide grid lines and dimensions to architecture plans

PROCEDURE:

STEP 1:

  • In annotate toolbar select linear dimensions and assign dimensions to the ground floor and the first floor.

RESULT:

Ground floor:

FIRST FLOOR:

b. The Structure plan dimensions must include details on the position of all the walls and interior walls with reference to grids. Locate all the framing components of the building with reference to a fixed point using Structural plans

AIM: To give dimensions and grid lines to the project

PROCEDURE:

  • Go to the structural plan previously saved
  • In the Architecture toolbar select grid lines and assign them to the ground and first-floor plans

RESULT:

GROUND FLOOR:

FIRST FLOOR:

5) Create a sheet template from the view tab and adjust the parameters on the sheet to add appropriate views

AIM: To create a sheet template from the view tab and adjust the parameters on the sheet to add appropriate views

PROCEDURE:

  • In view toolbar select sheet tab and select desired sheet and click ok

  • In the manage toolbar select Project information assign the info that is required

RESULT:

6) Using the elevation tab create the elevation views, looking at your building from East, North, South, and West

AIM: To create the elevation views using elevation tab from North, South, East and West

PROCEDURE:

  • Select the elevations in the project browser window

RESULT:

NORTH:

SOUTH:

EAST:

WEST:

7) Produce section cut through each room either cutting across longitudinally or in a transverse direction

AIM: To produce section cut through each room

PROCEDURE:

  • In view toolbar select section tab and assign sections to the model

RESULT:

SECTION 1:

SECTION 2:

  • The highlighted is section 2

8) Classify the views, Plan Views, Section Views, and Elevation views to either Design or Documentation category using Properties browser

AIM: To classify the views, plan views, section views, and elevation views using properties browser

PROCEDURE:

  • In the property browser, all the views are shown

RESULT:

9) Using the sheet template produced create multiple sheets as follows
a. A 101- Ground Floor Architecture Plan
b. A 102- First Floor Architecture Plan
c. A 103- Roof Plan
d. S 101- Ground Floor Structural Plan
e. S 102- First Floor Structural Plan
f. S 103- Roof Framing Plan
g. A-201- North-South Elevations
h. A-202- East-West Elevations

Add additional sheets based on the sections created in your Revit file

AIM: To Create multiple sheets using a sheet template

PROCEDURE:

  • In the view toolbar select the sheets to create a new sheet by loading or desired sheets and click ok

  • In manage toolbar select project information and assign the info required

RESULT:

a. A 101- Ground Floor Architecture Plan:

b. A 102- First Floor Architecture Plan

c. A 103- Roof Plan

d. S 101- Ground Floor Structural Plan

e. S 102- First Floor Structural Plan

f. S 103- Roof Framing Plan

g. A-201- North-South Elevations

h. A-202- East-West Elevations

10) Create a camera-specific view or a 3D view in each room ( living, dining, bedroom). Based on the views create a new set of sheets starting A-501 (you can add as many sheets after, 502, 503.. n)to place the 3D view images. Produce the sheets as a part of project drafting.

AIM: To Create camera views for each room and create sheets for each of the 3d views

PROCEDURE:

  • In view toolbar under 3d view select camera and assign to desired rooms

RESULT:

BEDROOM VIEWS
