3D Creation of Celing, Roof, Architectural plan, Structural plan, Sectional view, Elevation view and Camera specific view for a house plan using REVIT
1) Based on the project saved from Week 3, proceed from the First Floor Level. Model a Ceiling from the architecture tab above the walls at the first-floor level.
Introduction:
Inorder to create the ceiling and roof for a building using revit software following steps can be followed:
- Ceiling: Open revit software --> Architecture tab --> Ceiling.
- Roof: Open revit software --> Architecture tab --> Roof.
Architecture plan, structural plan, sectional view and elevation view can be developed from the view tab.
- Ribbon --> View --> Plan views: choose any of the plans like floor plan, structural plan etc.
- Sectional view can be developed as follows
- View --> Create panel --> section --> then we have to mark where the section is to be created.
- Elevation : View --> Create panel --> elevation views.
Camera specific view is necessary for rendering a building created which provides a reaistic view for the building. This can be developed from the view tab.
- View --> 3D view dropdown --> Camera. Then place the camera wherever necessary and develop the camera view.
Aim: To model a Ceiling from the architecture tab above the walls at the first-floor level.
Procedure:
-
Step:-1
- First we open the revit sofware, and select the ceiling option from the architecture toolbar.

Step:-2
- After selecting the ceiling option, then select the each room one by one.
- Then the ceiling will be created, as shown in the below figure.

-
Step:-3
- Here we can the ceiling in the three dimensional view as shown in the below figure.

RESULT:-
- The ceiling has been modeled successfully from the architecture tab above the walls at the first-floor level.

2) Model a roof above the ceiling by selecting the footprints of the ceiling. Using the adjustment toolbars appearing on-screen adjust the roof slope to 10 degrees.
AIM:- To model a roof above the ceiling by selecting the footprints of the ceiling.
INTRODUCTION:-
- Roof, covering of the top of a building, serving to protect against rain, snow, sunlignt wind, and extremes of temperature.
- Roofs have been constructed in a wide variety of forms flat, pitched, vaulted, domed, or in combinations as dictated by technical, economic, or aesthetic considerationsThe earliest roofs constructed by man were probably thatched roofs that were made of straw, leaves, branches, or reeds; they were usually set at a slope, or pitch, so that rainfall could drain off them.
- Conical thatched roofs are a good example of this type and are still widely used in the rural areas of Africa and elsewhere.
- Thicker branches and timbers eventually came to be used to span a roof, with clay or some other relatively impermeable substance pressed into the interstices between them.
- Gabled and flat roofs were possible with these materials. With the invention of brick and cut stone for building, the basic roof forms of the dome and vault appeared.
PROCEDURE:-
Step:-1
- Open the architecture toolbar, and select the Roof by Footprint option as shown in the below figure.

Step:-2
- Next we select the roof and adjust the roof to 10 degrees by selecting it, as shown in the figure.

Step:-3
- The roof has been created, as shown below.

RESULT:-
- The roof has been created successfully to the model in the revit in detailed manner.

3) Using the file saved from weeks 2 to 4, create plan views for ground floor level and first-floor level including all the walls, floors, and components. Separate them to
architecture and structural plans
a. Architecture plan must have walls, floors, and all the components placed within the building
b. Structure plan must have details of only walls, floors, and columns
Aim:
To create plan views for ground floor level and first-floor level including all the walls, floors, and components and then separate them to
a) Architecture plan
b) Structural plans.
Procedure:
a) To create architecture plan:
- Initially go to view tab of the ribbon then select plan views.

- In the plan views, select floor plan.

- Click level 1 and go to edit type.
- Choose view template applied to new views.

- In that select architectural plan.

- Then the floor plan is obtained as follows:
- Ground floor plan:

- First floor plan:

b) To create the structural plan: For this the plan will contain only walls floors and the column as the structural element and is given as follows:
- Ground floor structural plan:

- First floor structural plan:

RESULT:-
- Created plan views for ground floor level and first-floor level including all the walls, floors, and components.
- And separated them to architecture and structural plans.
4) Using annotate toolbar add dimensions to all the walls and floors with reference to the longitudinal and transverse grids created in the project file
a. The architecture plan dimensions include details on where the components are placed within the buildings with relation to grids. Overall dimensions are sufficient for architecture plans
b. The Structure plan dimensions must include details on the position of all the walls and interior walls with reference to grids. Locate all the framing components of the building with reference to a fixed point using Structural plans
Aim:
To add dimensions to all the walls and floors with reference to the longitudinal and transverse grids created in the project file.
a. The architecture plan dimensions include details on where the components are placed within the buildings with relation to grids.
b. The Structure plan dimensions must include details on the position of all the walls and interior walls with reference to grids.
Procedure:
a)
- Initially select the floor plan for ground floor.
- Go to annotate tab and choose linear dimension and provide linear dimensions in the plan.
- For ground floor:

- For first floor:

- Now go to architecture tab and choose tag rooms option.
- Then tag the individual rooms as given below:

b)
- Now we have to create the structural plan dimensions acoording to grid lines.
- For this, go to structural plan.
- Then go to architectural tab, select grids and draw grids along the walls.
- Ground floor:

- First floor:

RESULT:-
- The dimensions are added to the structural floor plans and the architectural floor plans.
- And the longitudinal and transverse grids are also created in the project file.

5) Create a sheet template from the view tab and adjust the parameters on the sheet to add appropriate views.
AIM:- To create a sheet template from the view tab and adjust the parameters on the sheet to add appropriate views.
INTRODUCTION:-
- Create views on a project template before you start building the model to streamline the project documentation process.
- When creating a project template, you can include sheets in the template. Start with a blank project file, and create the standard views and levels that each project should include.
- Leave the views empty, but assign standard names to them. To create a standard set of construction documents, create sheets using the desired title blocks.
- Add views to the sheets, using the desired viewport templates and view title types.
- Then save the empty project as a project template.
- When you create a project using this project template, all of the views and sheets are already created and listed in the Project Browser.
- As you start to draw the building model in the project views, the views on the sheets update automatically.
- This technique streamlines the project documentation process and maintains organizational standards.
PROCEDURE:-
Step:-1
- First we click on the sheet option from the view toolbar, as shown below.
- After clicking the sheet, Thhe new tab will be visible on the screen.
- In that new tab we select the A1 metric, then the sheet template will be displayed.

Step:-2
- In the sheet template we insert the first floor plan and second floor plan separately as shown below.
- Next edit the Project name and the sheet number as shown in the below figures.

- Created a sheet template from the view tab and adjusted the parameters on the sheet for adding appropriate views.

6) Using the elevation tab create the elevation views, looking at your building from East, North, South, and West.
AIM:- To create the elevation views, looking at your building from East, North, South, and West using the elevation tab.
INTRODUCTION:-
- An elevation is a view of a building seen from one side, a flat representation of one view.
- This is the most common view used to describe the external appearance of a building.
- Each elevation is labelled in relation to the compass direction it faces, e.g. looking toward the north you would be seeing the southern elevation of the building.
PROCEDURE:-
Step:-1
- First we click on the elevation option from the view toolbar, as shown below.

Step:-2
- Next the elevation from the east will be visible, as shown below.
Step:-3
- Next the elevation from the south will be visible on the screen, as shown below.

Step:-4
- Next the elevation from the North will be visible on the screen, as shown below.

Step:-5
- Next the elevation from the West will be visible on the screen, as shown below.

7) Produce section cut through each room either cutting across longitudinally or in a transverse direction.
Aim:
To produce section cut through each room.
Procedure:
- Go to view tab of the ribbon.
- Select the section view and then section the required room.

- Section 1:

- Section 2:

- Section 3:

- Section 4:

RESULT:
Hence, four sections have been created.

8) Classify the views, Plan Views, Section Views, and Elevation views to either Design or Documentation category using Properties browser.
