3D Creation of Celing, Roof, Architectural plan, Structural plan, Sectional view, Elevation view and Camera specific view for a house plan using REVIT
AIM: 3D Creation of Celing, Roof, Architectural plan, Structural plan, Sectional view, Elevation view and Camera specific view for a house plan using REVIT
1) Based on the project saved from Week 3, proceed from the First Floor Level. Model a Ceiling from the architecture tab above the walls at the first-floor level
Procedure:
Steps:
- Open the revit software and goto the architecture toolbar and select the ceiling option
- Now use the boundry option and select the outer planes

- Now the ceiling is created
Result:

2) Model a roof above the ceiling by selecting the footprints of the ceiling. Using the adjustment toolbars appearing on-screen adjust the roof slope to 10 degrees
Introduction:
- Roof, covering of the top of a building, serving to protect against rain snow, sunlight wind, and extremes of temperature
- Roofs have been constructed in a wide variety of forms flat, pitched, vaulted, domed, or in combinations as dictated by technical. economic, or aesthetic considerationsThe earliest roofs constructed by man were probably thatched roofs that were made of straw.
- leaves, branches, or reeds; they were usually set at a slope, or pitch, so that rainfall could drain off them.
Procedure:
Steps:
- Goto the architecture toolbar and select the roof by Footprint option

- Select the foot print of the roof
- Now change the slope of roof to 10 degree

- Now the roof is created with a slope of 10 degrees
Result:

3) Using the file saved from weeks 2 to 4, create plan views for ground floor level and first-floor level including all the walls, floors, and components. Separate them to
architecture and structural plans
Introduction:
- The structural plan view is the default view when you start a new project using a structural template.
- The floor plan view is the default view in a new architectural project. Most projects include at least one floor plan.
Procedure:
Steps:
- First we draw the architectural plans of Ground floor and first floor

- Now we create the structural plan of the ground floor and first floor

Result:
The Architectural and structural plan views are created

4) Using annotate toolbar add dimensions to all the walls and floors with reference to the longitudinal and transverse grids created in the project file
a. The architecture plan dimensions include details on where the components are placed within the buildings with relation to grids. Overall dimensions are sufficient for architecture plans
b. The Structure plan dimensions must include details on the position of all the walls and interior walls with reference to grids. Locate all the framing components of the building with reference to a fixed point using Structural plans
Introduction:
- The structural plan view is the default view when you start a new project using a structural template.
Procedure:
Steps:
- Here we drawn the longitudinal and transverse grids to the architectural floor plans as shown below.
- And add the dimensions to the architectural plans as shown below.

Result:
- The dimensions are added to the structural floor plans and the architectural floor plans.
- And the longitudinal and transverse grids are also created in the project file.
5) Create a sheet template from the view tab and adjust the parameters on the sheet to add appropriate views
Introduction:
- You should create views on a project template before you start building the model for streamline the project documentation process.
- Views Play a major while you create a model
- Also create the project template as per the required views for the ease of documentation
Procedure:
Steps:
- First goto the view toolbar and select the sheet option
- A new tab will appear with name new sheet
- Now select the A1 title block

- now we insert the ground floor plan and first floor plan separately in a sheet template.
- Next we change the sheet name and the sheet number

Result:
- Sheet template is created with ground and first floor plan views

6) Using the elevation tab create the elevation views, looking at your building from East, North, South, and West
Introduction:
- Elevation view is the side view of the building
- This view is mostly used to see the external appearence of the building
Procedure:
Steps:
- Goto the view toolbar and click the elevation option
- Now set the elevation at all the four side of the plan

- Now goto the project browser and click the east elevation for the view

- Do the same for the other views
Result:
- East View

- West View

- North View

- South view

7) Produce section cut through each room either cutting across longitudinally or in a transverse direction
Introduction:
- Section views are the views which show the hidden details of the building
- In this we can see the views of a building that cannot be seen in the elevation view
Procedure:
Steps:
- First we goto the view toolbar and select the section option
- Now we cut a section view of the living room and a master bedroom

- Now we section view for the kitchen and dining

- Also we create section views for different rooms and areas
Result:
- Master bedroom

- Bedroom 2

- Kitchen and dining

- Living room

- Toilet

8) Classify the views, Plan Views, Section Views, and Elevation views to either Design or Documentation category using Properties browser
Introduction:
- The structural plan view is the default view when you start a new project using a structural template.
- Most projects include at least one structural plan. New structural plan views are created automatically as you add new levels to your project. You can create multiple structural plan view types.
- The floor plan view is the default view in a new architectural project. Most projects include at least one floor plan.
Procedure:
Steps:
- First we open the project browser, the views, Plan Views, Section Views, and Elevation views are visible in that project browser as shown below.
- Next we insert these plans one by one in the sheets separately.

- Now we add Ground floor and first floor views on a sheet template

- Now we add the side elevations on the sheet East, west, North, South

- Now we insert the section views on the template

Result:
All the views are placed on the template sheet

9) Using the sheet template produced create multiple sheets as follows
a. A 101- Ground Floor Architecture Plan
b. A 102- First Floor Architecture Plan
c. A 103- Roof Plan
d. S 101- Ground Floor Structural Plan
e. S 102- First Floor Structural Plan
f. S 103- Roof Framing Plan
g. A-201- North-South Elevations
h. A-202- East-West Elevations
Introduction:
- Create views on a project template before you start building the model to streamline the project documentation process.
- When creating a project template, you can include sheets in the template. Start with a blank project file, and create the standard views and levels that each project should include.
Procedure:
Steps:
- First we Create the Ground floor architectural plan in the sheet template A-101 and First floor architectural plan in the sheet template A-102

- Now create the roof plan in sheet template A 103

- First we Create the Ground floor Structural plan in the sheet template S-101 and First floor Structural plan in the sheet template S-102

- Next we produce the Roof framing plan in the sheet template S-103

- Next we create the North and south elevation views in the sheet template A-201 and the East and West elevation views in the sheet template A-202

Result:
All the templates are created as required

10) Create a camera-specific view or a 3D view in each room ( living, dining, bedroom). Based on the views create a new set of sheets starting A-501 (you can add as many sheets after, 502, 503.. n)to place the 3D view images. Produce the sheets as a part of project drafting.
Introduction:
- Camera Views are very much important in revit modelling
- They allow us to view what we would actually see if we were standing at any given location in our design.
- This can be invaluable for both understanding and communicating the nature of a space before we go to the expensive lengths of actually constructing it for real.
Procedure:
Steps:
- First we create a sheet name A-501
- Next go to the floor plan and place the camara in living room and place it in the template

- Next we create the sheet A-502 and take dining view

- Next we take the master bedroom view as A-503

- Next we take bedroom 2 as A-504

- Next we take the toilet view as A-505

Result:
We created the camera views for better understanding the model
