Pack and Go Feature in Solidworks

The Pack and Go feature in SolidWorks is a handy tool for gathering all related files of an assembly or part into a single folder or zip file. This is particularly useful when you need to share your SolidWorks project with others or transfer it to a different location. It collects not only the main part or assembly file but also any linked parts, sub-assemblies, drawings, appearances, decals, and other referenced files, ensuring everything needed for the project to function properly is included. 

Here’s how to use Pack and Go: 

1. Open the Assembly or Part: Open the main file in SolidWorks. 

2. Access Pack and Go: 

• Go to File > Pack and Go. 
• A dialog box will open showing all the files associated with your project. 

3. Options in Pack and Go: 

• Save to Folder or Save to Zip: Choose to save all files in a folder or as a zip file. 
• File Name and File Location Options: Rename files or specify a save location. 
• Include Drawings, Toolbox Components, or Simulation Results: Add any of these additional related files. 
• Repath and Rename Files: You can update the location or change names of individual components in the list. 

4. File References and Options: 

• SolidWorks will update references automatically based on the new location, ensuring that all parts remain linked correctly. 

5. Save and Share: 

• After making your selections, save the files. The package is now ready to be shared or stored. 

Pack and Go can also be used outside of SolidWorks through SolidWorks Explorer, allowing you to gather files without opening SolidWorks itself. This feature helps maintain file integrity and reference paths, ensuring your project is intact when moved to new systems or shared with collaborators.
