The Absolute Coordinate System in AutoCAD allows you to specify points based on their exact location relative to the origin (0,0). Here’s how to use it effectively:
1. Understanding Coordinates:
- The X-axis represents horizontal movement, while the Y-axis denotes vertical movement.
- For example, the point (2,2) is located 2 units to the right and 2 units up from the origin.
2. Step-by-Step Example:
To draw a closed shape:
- Start the Line Tool (shortcut: L).
- Enter the first point: (2,2).
- Define subsequent points, e.g., (3,2), (3,4), (5,4), (5,5), (2,5).
- Close the shape using the Close option (C).
This simple exercise creates a polygon, perfect for practicing precise drafting.
3. Pro Tip:
Errors can be rectified using the Undo command (U), which allows you to backtrack without restarting your drawing.
Practical Exercise: Drawing a Rectangle
