An Insight Into Skill Lync's Master's in Hybrid Electric Vehicle Program (Part-2)

logo

Skill-Lync

This is part-2 of a two-part series on the Master's program in Hybrid Electric Vehicles at Skill-Lync. You can read the first part of the series - here.

At Skill-Lync, we understand the benefits and opportunities that are available in the HEV market and have prepared our courses accordingly. In semester 2 of our program, students can pick and choose their career paths and build their portfolios with industry-relevant projects.

The article covers the following areas:

  • Benefits of learning HEV concepts
  • The importance of the course to make a solid career in EV domain
  • Useful Information about the course curriculum and approach
  • Effect of COVID-19 on the automobile industry

What are the benefits of learning HEV concepts with respect to industry requirements?

The knowledge and understanding of the domain, along with the necessary skill-set, is what the industry will demand from mechanical engineers in the future. As a candidate, you stand to be more appealing to the recruiters if you showcase experience from working on fundamental projects using MATLAB and Simulink as well as computational analysis. With these projects under your belt, getting a job is going to be a cakewalk.

This program could emerge as the winning factor that would differentiate your profile from your fellow batchmates or colleagues since most of them follow the same curriculum throughout their graduation.

During the course-work, you will be exposed to various challenging tasks. It is where your success lies as a learner because, by the time you reach the end of the HEV Master's course, you will genuinely acquire enough skills to work on industry-oriented projects.

An Insight Into the Semester 2 Program Schedule

Semester 2 of the course covers the following crucial core concepts:

  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
  • Finite Element Analysis(FEA)
  • Design
  • Multibody Dynamics (MBD)

The course emphasizes learning the theoretical concepts first and then applying them in simulation models and analysis. If we look into the CFD track, the students get exposure to software tools like:

  • MATLAB (2-D technical computing environment)
  • OpenFOAM (Open-source numerical solver)
  • Ansys and Converge (3-D simulation software)
  • GT-Power (1-D system simulation tool)

So, by applying your theoretical knowledge while working on these software tools, you can master CFD and apply for good jobs in the domain. The same goes for FEA, Design, and MBD tracks.

The HEV Master's course is an offline course. The course typically takes eight months for completion if you are doing it part-time, whereas it demands 40 hours a week from your side at the normal pace.

How Will the Course Help You Take Your Career Ahead in the Electric Vehicle Domain?

More than 220 students who have completed the course successfully have been placed in multi-tier companies such as Force Motors, CEAT Tyres, VALEO, Fiat-Chrysler, Bombardier, and more.

The type of companies that you can go for is strongly related to your CGPA. If your CGPA is above 8.0, you can directly aim for OEMs like Fiat-Chrysler, Ford Motors, Mahindra, Tata Motors, etc.

Moreover, if you want to get into the research stream in the future, this course is definitely for you. Not only will the HEV Master's course provide you with a statement of purpose under your resume, but it will also help in getting a research assistant internship and probably a fellowship.

A lot of students got opportunities to pursue their higher studies and internships in foreign universities with the help of this course. Some of the well-known universities they got an offer from include Georgia Tech University, TU Dresden, Michigan Tech University, Clemson University.

How Will COVID-19 and the Ongoing Recession Affect the Automobile Sector?

During these testing times, the conversation of a challenging job market is still relevant among students today. The main topic of concern among a lot of engineers is about job availability and job stability. If we consider the case that recession will take place for sure, the companies usually lay off their experienced employees temporarily as they are paid more.

At the same time, automotive companies don't want to compromise with their upcoming projects and product development. So their attention is immediately shifted towards extremely skilled freshers. As a result, a plethora of opportunities arises for freshers with the right knowledge.

The electric vehicle market will be on a boom for sure in the coming 5-6 years.

How Will the HEV Master's Course Progress After One Gets in?

Skill-Lync HEV Master's course is instrumental in developing a strong portfolio for mechanical engineers. Every course is structured such that the students get to learn the concepts while working on assignments and projects.

If you are stuck with a topic, Skill-Lync support will come to your rescue immediately. Every student is provided with the facility to get in touch with a support engineer. There are two ways we lend support to our students: proactive and reactive; i.e., we get in touch with the student three days a week.

From the first day, we recommend a study plan to follow the entire week, and your progress is monitored until the third day. On the fifth day, your pace of completion and performance is analyzed. Based on this data, additional support classes and one-on-one support sessions are provided if required.

From the placements point of view, the course provides you with 3 Tool tests in CFD, FEA, and MBD to master your technical skills, along with FAQs and mock interviews, so that you get the feel of the interview rounds and gain some confidence to crack them.

Conclusion

The course completion rate at Skill-Lync is around 78%. Almost all the students land in their dream job after course completion and the students who want to pursue their masters abroad are accepted into their dream institutes.

At Skill-Lync, our main focus is to teach you the various tools and techniques, as well as the theory that helps you put them to good use. Click here to know more about our Master's in Hybrid Electric Vehicle Design & Simulation Coursework.
