Week 9 Tension and Torsion test challenge
Week 9 Tension and Torsion test challenge
Aim: Perform the tension and torsion test on the specimen. For the tension test, displace one end of the specimen to 18mm while keeping the other fixed. You will need to find out the total deformation, equivalent stress and temperature of the specimen. For the torsion test, you will need to displace one end of the specimen to an angle of 1200 degree. Find out the total deformation, equivalent stress and temperature of the specimen.

Conclusion
The simulation of tensile and torsion tests are carried out to the given conditions. From tensile test, the parts results in necking. The v-m stress in necking region is max 616 MPa. The temperature is 270 degree. From torsion test, the part results in breaking into 3 parts. The v-m in the gauge length region is max 598 MPa. The temperature is 405 degree.
