Week 9 - Project 1 - Door Applique Design with Engineering Features
DOOR APPLIQUE DESIGN WITH ENGINEERING FEATURES
AIM –To create a solid body of given Door applique and to create the Locaters and Heat Stakes as per engineering design standards.
Firstly we have create the tooling axis in the given class –A surface.
Creation of tooling Axis -
create the point oon the surface. using that point and Y - Axis to draw the line, we taken that line as Tooling Axis.

Do the draft analysis of the Class - A Surface

Class B surfaces creation –
Using the offset Command offset the Class - A surface of 2.5mm

Class C surfaces creation –
Swept along the Boundary of Class – A at an angle perpendicular to the Class A Surface with respect to the Tooling Axis Direction with a Draft angle of 3 degree.

Join the Class A, B and C surfaces to get a closed surface.

Final solid Componet -

Do the draft analysis of the Solid Component -

Creation of 4 and 2 Way Locaters –
While create the Locaters we need to follow the design rules to create the Ribs in order to avoid the sink marks.
4 Way Locaters –Means prevent the 4 movements at 2 – Axis on the plane,
To draw the Position Sketch on the surface

2 way Locaters –Means to prevent the 2 movements at 1 –Axis on the plane.

Heat Stakes –
Heat Staking Pulsed to two are more parts out of which one at least made of plastics. The process is to deform the plastic material using Heat and Force at a set process time.
The bond is made by partially de-form the plastic part in order to fix the other.
Creation of Heat Stakes -

Once
Creation of Door Panel -
By using the pad Option to develop the Door panel.

Once done the Locaters and Heat Stakes we need to design the counter holes at the mating parts with standard clearance

CONCLUSION –
- Thus the Door Applique is developed by using given Class A Surface.
- 4 and 2 Way locaters has been designed in order to fix the position of the Applique with the door panel and also designed the heat stakes used to fix the component with the mating panel by melting.
