Challenge

Creating connectors to attach various components of the given model after meshing using Hypermesh.

Objective: To create connector and attach the various parts of the given model with the specific types of connectors specified.

Procedure:

1. The first step is to mesh the entire component.

2. Mesh using automesh (f12) and set the type of mesh to mixed such that a better mesh flow is achieved and set element type to 6mm.

3. Next, connectors need to be fixed.

4.Right_Rail_2 & Front_truss_1: Seam-Quad(angled+capped+L) type of connector needs to be selected by going to 2D -> connectors -> Seam. Set the parameters according to the values specified and create.

5. Left_Rail_2 & Front_truss_1: Quad elements need to be selected for connecting these two components.

6. Front_truss_2, Front_truss_1 & Right_Rail_1:- Go to 2D- > Connectors -> Spot weld and set the parameters with 3 Layers and 5 mm Diameter and create.

7. Front_truss_2, Front_truss_1 & Left_Rail_1: Hexa (Adhesive) type of connector needs to be selected from the seam option for connecting these two components.

8. Rear_truss_2 & Right_Rail_2: Bolt Connector type of connector needs to be selected from 2D - > Connectors -> Bolt. Change the setting such hypermesh creates a new hole since there are no holes present already. Hit create to create the connector.

9. Rear_truss_2 & Left_Rail_2:- The same procedure should be followed to create a Bolt Connector between these two components.

10. Right_Rail_1 & Right_Rail_2:- Go to 2D -> Connectors -> Spot-weld with Rigid Elements and create the connector.

11. Left_Rail_1 & Left_Rail_2:- Go to 2D -> Connectors -> Spot-weld with Spring Elements and create the connector.

12. Check other regions and add connectors to those regions as well.

Result:

Connectors were created and various parts of the model were attached succesfully.
