Week 9 Challenge

Aim-: Calculate wave load and apply it in staddpro

Given-:

Maximum crest elevation=3m

r=5, Cva=3 Girder width=2.5m, ht=1.7, web=0.5,span=12m, width of deck slab=9m, No. of girder=3

Zh=nmax-centroid of I girder=3-1.7/2=2.15m

Zv=nmax-depth of girder=3-1.7=1.3m

  • verticle load Fv= r*zv*Av= 5*1.3(9*1.7/2)=49.725 kn
  • horizontal load Fh=r*Zh*Ah= 5*2.15*12/2*2=129 kn
  • Max verticle force Fmax= Cva*Fv=3*49.725=149.175 kn
  • Max horizonatal load Fhmax=b(1+Cr(n-1))Cva*Fh=(1+3(3-1))*3*129=2709 kn

This force apply in staddpro

STEPS-: create a node @ origin and as width of deck slab is 9m second node will be crfeated @ z=9m

as length of span is 12m so by using translitional repeate select beam and @ X dir create another beam linked the step

after giving length and width of bridge provide the remaining girder of bridge @ equidistance

deck slab provided as plate member of 0.5*0.5

the superstructure of bridge with whole dimension as shown in the figure

assign the support to the pier as fixed support

add the properties to the member pier dia=1.2m

girder specification provided as in the question given

plate thickness as 2m will be provided

after adding property assign this property to the repected member

now add load case detail add nodal load specify the Fz force as 2079kn and Fy=14.175kn and select the node of deck slab for Fz load and girder loaded for Fy=149.175kn we get the loading diagram as shown below

now run the analysis and postprocessing after 0 error

the bending along z we get the results

by selecting the pier annoted the beam result

MX local for plate stress we get the maximum bending along x is 870 knm

the whole structure we can see in 3D rendering
