Week 9 - Challenge 3 - Bumper

BUMPER

AIM: Create the Bumper Plastic component through the given Class-A surface. To begin with, the tooling axis for the given Class-A Surface should be created meeting the requirements of the draft angle and at the end perform the Draft analysis on the model.

NOTE: Thickness of the component is 3mm.

Class A surface

Next is to check the gaps or any patches in Class A with boundary and create a tooling axis in which the direction is suitable for that and also check draft analysis.

TOOLING AXIS:

Tooling axis is the direction in which the core and cavity opens in the tooling direction.

Check the all directions and all faces is suitable for the tooling axis.

In Y direction

In this direction some faces are not visible and this is not suitable for the tooling axis.

In Z direction

In Z direction all the faces are not visible and also its not suitable for the tooling direction.

In X direction

In X direction all the faces are clearly visible and extract any flat surface then create a point at the centre of the surface and create a line normal to the surface. This is the tooling axis for the component

Next is to perform the draft analysis and it is whether the direction is suitable for the core and cavity

draft analysis of class a surface:-

Class B surface:-

by giving 3 mm offset we created class b surface.

Class c surface:-

by using sweep command we created the class c surface.

Closed model:-

Bu using joint surface of class a& c we trimmed the class b surface and formed the closed surface

Draft analysis:

The draft analysis technique is used to analyse the whether our part model created in CAD manufacturing based on the draft condition applied

First use the analysis option and in that click draft analysis command in that click the compass option, this compass placed over the tooling axis and fix it on. Click on the component when the compass is placed on the tooling axis, some colour changes, when it is green colour it ok for the draft and when it shows the blue or some red colour it is not suitable for the draft.

This is the final draft analysis perform and it is now suitable for the draft.

Conclusion:-

This how we learned to create bumper.
