Challenge

Week 9 - Challenge 2 - Switch Bezel Design

In the given exercise the first step was to be done was find out the tooling axis, the steps for finding the tooling axis were as follows:-

  1. First we have to extract the bottom surface and place the point there, making it out projection point.
  2. As we have our projection point on the bottom surface we can place the axis system there and then proceed on for sketching.

In the first skecth we will take the front view(Y-Z plane to be precise) of the Class A and take the references of the two inclined lines along the sides of the bottom surface will be taken as reference and two reference sketches will be taken from them.

  1. As soon as the two reference sketch has been drawn then we can use the line bisecting command under the line command and create a line bisecting the two intersecting line, this is the first reference for the tooling axis all the other lines created will converted into construction element.
  2. The next reference line will be taken from the side face of surface A (i.e., X-Z plane to be precise).
  3. After going to the sketch mode again taking reference of side view from the surface A.
  4. Refernce line has to be drawn on the extracted sketch from and one more line from the projection point which is drawn in between V-H axis and the angle between the two lines are 3 degrees.
  5. The rest of the sketch are convereted into construction element and then after exiting the sketch mode we have two lines for tooling axis.
  6. Then next taking the refernce of the two sketches we have to take the line command and choose the line and choose the linetype as bisecting and taking the reference of the two sketch drawn and then giving the projection point as the point and extending the lines at the end of two ends.
  7. After that what is visible in between the two drawn sketch is the Tooling axis.
  8. Next step is to hide the two sketches and publish the remaining axis that is the tooling axis.
