Week 9 - Challenge 1 - Base Bracket Design
Aim:
To create a Base Bracket component through a given class A surface and perform Draft analysis on the final component.
Objectives:
1. Creation of tooling axis.
2. Creation of Class B & Class C surface.
3. Creating a solid part with surface modelling.
4. Draft Analysis of Class A surface and final component.
Class A is a surface that is created by the concept sketches made by free hand sketchers. The finalysed sketches is then finelised to the computer and a 2D surface is created out of it by the use of a software like Alias. This computerised design known as Class A surface.
Class B is a referance surface that is created by the design Engineer and is a copy of the Class A surface that is at a distance equal to the thickness of the part.
Class C is again a referance surface that is created by the Esign Engineer to connect class A and class B surface also known as side wall of the surface.
- Draft Analysis is done for 3 Deg draft. So as can be seen all the surfaces are more than 3 Deg.
Creating a tooling axis for the given Class A surface for doing Draft analysis.

Draft Analysis is done for 3Deg for the given Class A surface:

Creating class B surface is as follows:

Creation of Class C surface:

Draft analysis is done after the creation of whole component.

Design Tree is as follows:

Conclusion: Thus, the creation of closed solid part and draft analysis is completed for the given class A surface is done.
